Richard sat across from his parents, sulking over the fact he couldn't make a decision about what to be for Halloween. He had so many ideas, but they were all as good as the rest. Carmel wouldn't dare say anything, as she had earlier and he had a full on meltdown. "I guess I could just not dress up," the boy huffed. "Will I still get candy if I don't dress up?" ( @richard-graves or @carmelogtrop I mean either or 😂)
“Richard… Just pick a costume. You can go as something else next year.” Aiden sighed. He barely hide an irritated huff as he tried to let his son come up with his own decision. “I don’t think you’d get candy if you didn’t dress up… Why don’t you change costume half way through the night? Then you could get twice the candy and cover two costumes.“ [ @carmelogtrop or @richard-graves lmao]
“Well I did already have a costume idea but mummy said I can’t,” Richard huffed, stomping his feet in anger and crossing his arms. “Sweetie, it’s not that I don’t think it’s a good idea, and I think self expression is great and all, but people might laugh at you if you go as a fairy princess,” his mother tried to reason with him. “You know, boys can’t even actually be princesses..”
“This isn’t fair, the boy shouted as he stormed out of the room, “so much for fucking self expression!”
Aiden groaned and ran a hand through his hair. “I blame you for this. ” He playfully glared at his wife before he stood up and made his way to Richard’s room. “Rich? Can I come in?”
Richard waited a few seconds, and then shouted out from under his blanket. “It depends. Are you going to shout at me for saying the F word?”
He honestly doubted that his father would, so he climbed out of his bed and poked his head out of his room, keeping the door open only a crack.
"Not as long as you apologise to your mother later. ” Aiden shook his head and leant again the doorframe. “You really want to be a fairy princess?”
"I do but...but you heard mum. People'll laugh at me." The young boy frowned, folding his arms. "Not that it's any of their business what I'm wearing."
