NFL player Joe Haden is taking a powerful stand against the “R-word”
Joe is an NFL cornerback for the Cleveland Browns. Jacob, his younger brother, is Joe’s biggest fan. Jacob also happens to have a cognitive disorder that limits his speech and language capabilities. Via the Special Olympics and activism, the two are inspiring people everywhere — and the story of how Joe saved Jacob’s life is just the beginning.
>> I can’t seem to stop crying this morning
holding back tears
How about I just start typing and once I’m finished, if I still feel the need, I’ll change this sentence.
The universe only responds positively to authenticity. I realize that when I’m not trying or pretending, I am well received. When I am carefree or full of cares, angry and passionate or ecstatic and near tears, the results are the same: the universe blesses my truths. When I write or paint, I feel best about the things I’ve created with transparency. So here I am, sharing a few truths, because I have filled up my internal reserve and returned my external ones.
I don’t owe anyone a place in my life. I am not obligated, no matter how beneficial our relationship once was, to uphold that connection. Over the past year, I’ve become hyper sensitive to anyone who condemns my true self. True friends would never ask of you to stop laughing if your laughter was pure, innocent joy.
Being cruel and nasty to each other has become commonplace and I want no parts in that. Our self esteems are already fragile and rattled everyday with the constant bombardment of ideal bodies. Also, this wave of over-criticism of everything-- I can’t understand why this is popular but I know myself-- I will try.
Blackness permeates throughout everything I do and my skin is a source of pride, excellence, and integrity. I take great dignity in being black but I have found recently my anger toward the treatment of my people has led to violent thoughts. A huge proponent of love, I find myself uninterested in anything that is not completely black. I hope this passes. I do believe in peace and inclusion.
I feel like I’m beating around a proverbial bush. There’s something at the forefront of my mind-- heavy and daunting-- yet I’m unable to conceptualize it. Over time, I’ve started to shut off from people and it has helped me protect and preserve. I don’t share any of my most moving moments; I shield my vulnerabilities from all. But in this midnight hour, I’ve come to realize that I can only expect surface interactions and shallow connections if that’s all I am giving. And I know this feeling of loneliness that has taken residence in my home was invited in by me. But how does one balance the inconsistent and dynamic nature of people with the yearning for holistic interactions?

Things like this always remind me shit ain't worth stressing over.
1. Take full responsibility for your life. Stop blaming others.
2. Do things you like to do. Don’t keep doing things you hate.
3. Stop terrorizing yourself with your thoughts.
4. Be gentle and kind and patient with yourself.
5. Enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
11,000 people were injured in last summer’s offensive of whom at least 3,500 will have a permanent disability. These photos are of a few of those people. in Gaza many people are living on mounds of rubble, there is no reconstruction and supplies of food are insufficient - children are going hungry and without supplies of clean water. And the illegal siege remains in place with the complicity of the international community. via X
Last one! Look at how bright and bold these colors are. I'm so inspired. And it's a beautiful day outside. I'm just so full of happy feelings. Jah bless! #AroundBatonRouge
Black history is American history. The mayor of BR actually commissions for these pieces to be done and tomorrow, citizens of BR will get to create their own. #AroundBatonRouge
Stumbled on this dope tribute to American legends, Richard Pryor & Hattie McDaniel. At the bottom, the artist wrote "They colorized it but it's still black & white." #AroundBatonRouge
