The Greenfield’s poured in place concrete home on Long Island photographed for The Wall Street Journal. Concrete is incredibly strong and energy efficient building material. The concrete structure came out of Hurricane Sandy unscathed after a tree fell onto the corner of the home during construction. Black locust trees that were felled on the property during Hurricane Irene were clad to the concrete and used as siding. This was my first time on Long Island and it was a pleasure to spend some time chasing light around this home. Thanks as always to Kat Mallott for the assignment! https://www.instagram.com/p/BmRv1GeAgKr/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=hmobdjil9q2c

Morning backgammon at @thesabahdealer Mickey Ashmore & Justine Monsul’s East Village apartment. Justine is the founder of @monfefo, a small batch cold-pressed juicery in Brooklyn. We started the morning with a ginger shot mixed with seltzer (🤤) before heading over to Mickey’s Sabah House. While living in Istanbul, Mickey was gifted a pair of traditional Turkish leather shoes. After moving back to the US to work in finance, Ashmore stayed in contact with a family of Turkish craftsmen to improve upon the shoes. The same family still produces the shoe which is now known as the Sabah. Mickey has developed a cult-like following for his shoe and hosts weekly parties at his cozy shops around the country. I directed this small spot with actor Mike Colter reading a passage from Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?” for Audible. The spot coincided with their release of “The Radical King.” Dr. Cornell West curated 23 passages by Dr. King which were narrated by actors and actresses to bring Dr. King’s words to life. This was such an amazing experience hearing Mike narrate this piece and I’m pretty sure everyone in the room had goosebumps.
