Media & Information Literacy: My Favorite Application

So far, Facebook is the application I like the most. Who wouldn’t? You can do everything in here. It serves to allow individual users to connect with friends at once through posts. It also let individuals connect with public figures and businesses. It has a lot of purpose and benefits.

I as an avid user of facebook admit that I can’t survive I day without browsing my feed and having chitchats with my friends. I found it amazing when I can learn their life story just by checking their page. Their friends, likes and dislikes, relationship status, phone number, address, everything. Sounds a little dangerous but it’s lowkey fascinating. Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with your family and friends that live far away, it makes meeting new people extremely easy due to the fact that it allows you to add up to thousands of friends. My mom once told me not to talk to people in the internet because majority of people lurking in here are liars that can ruin my life. But what she didn’t tell me was that they could be some of the best people I’ll ever meet. Because of facebook, I found my internet mom named Mia Necole who was always their even though we talk very seldom this past few days because of being busy in real life. My internet best friend Gabrielle who never gets tired of listening to my dramas. Truly, great people still exist in the internet. Luckily I found some.

The information I have stated why facebook is my favorite app is just tip of an iceberg. There are still tons of reasons that I can’t put into words. But one thing is comprehensible. Facebook is one of the best app that ever existed.

You call it a virtual world? I call it my world.

Media & Information Literacy:  Kawayang Pangarap

"A dream doesn't become reality through magic; It takes sweat, determination, and hard work" Colin Powell quoted. This is the quote that comes first in my mind while watching the video "Kawayang Pangarap". I was speechless. I'm complaining about my life and existence then there's these kids, who still manage to smile and keep on fighting no matter what their life situation is. If I'm on their shoe, I don't know if I can do what they're doing  to live daily. Carrying tons of kawayan is no joke. I discerned the bonafide love of a father that will immolate his self without hesitation for the sake of his child and their dreams. Truly, they're the proof that poverty is never a hindrance if you want to achieve something. And money is not the only reason to be happy. They show the real meaning of love. How I wish everyone will realize the real meaning of happiness. And how good it feels to see and to have a family who helps one another. Happiness and family is the only thing that money can't buy. You can never compensate it with any stuffs made by humans.This gadget I'm holding right now won't even run 3 years from now. This shoes I'm wearing won't even fit me 20 years later. But the dreams, happiness and love will never last. The smile curved in there lips was priceless. They are genuine. Life is a climb indeed, it can be challenging and hard sometimes. But let's put in our mind that once we get there, where we wanna be, everything will be great. Like even though it's hard, it's all worth it.

Media & Information Literacy: Manila Film Center.

What happened in the Manila film center while constructing it is heart-rending story indeed. 169 workers fell and were buried under quick-drying wet cement. Some of them were even buried alive. I've red a statement saying the rescuers were eventually permitted to go inside the accident site 9 hours after the ceiling scaffolding collapsed causing some of the workers to entombed alive and that the bodies were left on the hardened concrete slabs. Why did they let it last for how many hours before doing some sort of action? Maybe if they only pay heed on the accident maybe some of the workers are still alive and are living happily right now. I was in tears while watching the coverage of rescuing the victims-- or I must say, getting the corpse of the workers rather. Seeing the blood surges rapidly gave me creeps. I have no one to blame since I'm naive and not in a position to accuse. For me, it's us who made this things complicated. People focuses on who to blame instead of showing care and praying for the victims. Whether it's Imelda, the Marcoses, architects, or it's the engineer's fault isn't the issue here. Because, they itself are also victims. Marcos does tons of good things in our country, we just focus on the not-so-good stuff. The good things he made was forgotten because we let those not-so-good memories to eat us. I'm not into Marcos nor the victims. This is just all in my perspective. Those creepy things still hunt the minds of people involved in the incidents for sure, I feel sorry for them. But only God knows the truth. May the victims find peace in God's mercy.

Media & Information Literacy: SONA 2016

In previous years, I don’t really watch nor listen the SONA of the President even though we’re obliged to because I’m sick of hearing the same old lies and promises they’re spilling. I just browsed the internet and copy pasted the other reactions posted. But this time is a different story indeed because I really lend time for this to watch and I really did heard the SONA.

We, Filipinos’ wanted for a change. Therefore we anticipated for President  Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s first State of the Nation Address not because we’re required to (for reaction papers) but most of the reason, it’s because we’re pretty sure he’ll not fool nor trick us with his words, cause what he have said, he’ll surely do it.

Here are some statements that will perpetually stay in my memory and I will never get tired of hearing from President Du30.

“I will not waste time dwelling on past sins. Vindictiveness is not in my system.“ President Duterte opened his speech. Clearly, he doesn’t want to get stuck on what’s on the past instead focus on what’s need to be fix in the current happenings.

"All of us want peace, not the peace of the dead, of course, but the peace of the living.” Just like on what he have said “Human rights cannot be used as an excuse to destroy our country.” Every wrong doings that causes danger or risk to his people has a consequences to be faced.

"Abuse your authority and there will be a hell to pay. For you will have become worse than criminality itself.“ There’s no excuse in his law.

’‘As long as I am President, there will be no demolition without relocation.” Simple yet brings a huge relief to the penniless who has no permanent residence.

’'If we cannot as yet love one another then in God’s name let us not hate each other too much.“ He’s lowkey referring to ’'Love your enemies” spreading peace even sometimes some of us hates one another to death.

His SONA was simple, yet straight forward and sincere. It makes me feel upbeat for our nation and our people. I can perceive the veritable love and care from a father that will protect his children no matter what. His love for our country is genuine. Our President is one of a kind indeed. Salute!

Media & Information Literacy

We are blinded by social media that we forgot to be ourselves. "Likes" became the basis of our entire doings that we sometimes post lies. We fool ourselves just to gather tons of attention, we post fictitious stories just to get notice. We even rely our happiness to the likes we got. Admit it or not we're once contented on what we have but since we enter the world of social media, we started to yearn something. We crave for attention, plenty of likes "Cool", it somehow boost our confidence that we almost think we're the most exquisite creature that ever existed. But when we saw someone who has a lot of likes in their post than the one we posted, we started to think how unpleasant, worthless and hideous we are. See how it affects us? In my perspective, social media was nothing but a world full of lies, sphere of pretenders and a home for attention-seekers because not all we see is really based on what's happening in reality.
