hi there, and welcome to my blog \(^-^)/

this blog is like a journal, archive and gallery, my own little corner of the internet where i can share my content — pieces, processes, and thoughts, with doodles and notes along the way. i’d love to take you along with me on my art journey, so i’ll try to post the various things i make day-to-day, trying to be honest and show the reality behind my art online.

about me ★

i’m an animation student and amateur artist. i do a lot of visual art, mainly drawings, paintings and animation. i try to balance between traditional and digital art, but most often post digital works because of my degree. i hope to one day learn and experiment with other forms of art.

i love art history, modern art, unconventional art and mixed media. i love to tell and listen to stories, expressing emotions and experiences through art. my other interests include robots, technology, cartoons, nostalgia, the ocean, space, music, fashion, animals and crafts. when i’m not doing visual art, i’m either going on a walk, sewing, fiddling with something, watching something or napping.

i’m a big yapper, so you’ll see me talking a lot all around. sorry in advance (^^;)

Last week I got the Megatron figure I ordered after waiting 7 months for the restock. And on the same day, I accidentally broke him. His back kibble snapped off when I tried to transform him. I was really upset over breaking my new toy, and just breaking something in general.

He’s been in surgery for 4 days — I’d be hunched over at my desk with a lamp on, balancing him in my lap, holding a flashlight in one hand and a toothpick with superglue in the other. After I was done, I’d lay him down on my shelf and wait, checking up on him with the flashlight.

This has put my wedding diorama on pause. But now that he’s standing, maybe it can begin again.

And one seeker is very happy to see him ❤️

Stuff I did today amidst holiday schoolwork. During my breaks I didn't feel like drawing something new, so I dug up an old sketch of Ulchtar and D-16 I did months ago to chip away at with the skills I've learned since. I even recorded a little speedpaint! (Despite the thing being like 50 mins long and I needed to speed it up x16) I don't do this much but it was pretty nice.

You can see how slow I am at lineart, and how much I get distracted because I started colouring lol TT^TT I also tried to incorporate the perspective and shape skills I learned in uni. I'm learning at the very least :'D Songs are nightcore versions of Stateside and Romeo by PinkPantheress.

The paper drawing is something I started recently — a low-stakes challenge where I make art based off every song in my Megastar playlist. Very very low-stakes, because I have a lot of songs, and not much time or energy. I changed the Galvatron to regular Megs tonight, and hope to use my loose grasp on colour theory when I get around to colouring it.

Fish have been on the mind lately — I started sketching designs at the end of my assignments.

First image is a frantic doodle I did in a day of Prime Megs and Screamer. Was thinking about Starscream’s personality in tfp and thought he might suit stingray elements so I put barbs in his arms and tail. Though I’m thinking of changing the arm barbs to cone snail harpoons to mimic his missiles. Will have to sketch more. Especially for Megatron — I have so many ideas for him I need to boil them down. I’m thinking a shark-crustacean angle would work, since I love the idea of a pistol shrimp-esque fusion cannon.

I also tried HeavyPaint on my phone while at going to the dentist. It’s quite nice, but it’ll take me a while to get the hang of it.

I have a pile of sea creatures in my mind that I might use for other iterations. But tbh…should get back to working on my own stories and ocs for potentially joining artfight.

Or do my work. That’s probably important.

One of my favourite artworks ever. I have it as a phone widget and used to have it as my laptop wallpaper. My mum always told me to change it… she doesn’t like skulls, bones or death. But I love to depict them.

I just love how Van Gogh paints. You can see the paintstrokes so clearly—where they start, where they go, where they end. And I love how the background isn’t completely opaque. You can see specks of the canvas peeking through. Oddly enough, one of my favourite things about the artwork is the tinge of muted green at the top of the skull.

I wish I had the painting I made in highschool that was based off this. It had a yellow skeleton eating a Mickey Mouse icecream and a pink background. It was an exercise we had to do based off our trip to the city and art gallery. Perhaps I could paint it again. And I should really finish that skull watercolour I never finished.

Finished mending a hole in my captain america sock while watching poptropica walkthroughs. Feeling quite proud of myself, and thinking of drawing poptropica things as a service to my younger self. I was obsessed with this game and would always draw my character and make stories with her, but not many people I meet know what poptropica is. Travesty.

Hope to post soon, just been busy with uni, doing assignments and schoolwork. Would love to work on my new stories and ideas sometime and share with you guys.

The one non-school thing I’ve drawn all week, amidst dealing with sore legs, fried eyes, deadlines and general hollowness. I mostly drew this on the train, tired enough to sleep but stressed enough to stay awake.

Starscream mermech ideations, so far my main inspiration is the oarfish and manta ray. Will most likely be adding more animals to the idea soup in the future

I finished rescue bots recently after binging it the past few weeks. Was pleasantly surprised how much I loved it, and how well-made it is. Heatwave is my favourite, so I wanted to draw him. Was debating drawing him digitally, but I wanted to use my new markers. It turned into loose sketching, finding the joy in markers and using art supplies I haven’t used in a long time like my highlighters, paint pens and gel pens. I should use them more…

There’s a special joy in traditional art, and I try to make time for it when I can. I love textures, and being able to touch and feel my own art. Makes it feel more personal, more real, like “Hey, I made this! And it’s right here in this space with me!” :]

And if anyone’s curious, above Heatwave is a doodle I did on the train when I was experiencing delays.

Some unfinished sketches in my screenshots folder. Did the first three today - wip cartoon Soundwave and a human Megatron on a whim. The others are older ones I've never posted, but thought I'd throw in because why not. Trying to be more honest with myself and my art.

Sketched these last year shortly after Zootopia 2 came out. Juniper Wilde is one of my Wildehopps babies, and I first created her all the way back in 2016. Back then she was orange with heterochromia (classic oc move). After getting back into Zootopia, I decided to give her a revamp, and I may give the other children a makeover too. She reminds me of the happiness I had back then: just a young fangirl discovering the joys of shipping, finding herself out there on the worldwide web.

I've never been one to abide by the rules of biology and realism. I just like babies and fankids <3

i just think they’re neat, and with the two not having much content throughout the franchise, the world is my oyster. i hope to draw them more in the future. might do a digital version sometime too
