shouldnt you know by now that the elders and jia mu were responsible for the kong massacre? baoyu was powerless. a peerless jade can do nothing but watch. your contempt is, and has always been, completely baseless
He could have told his family what was going to happen. He could have warned him. HE COULD HAVE SAVED EVERYONE, BUT HE DIDN'T BECAUSE THE WRETCHED HAG LET HIM LIVE A LIFE OF LUXURY AND FREEDOM AND FOR WHAT!? SO MY BROTHER COULD DIE AT THE HANDS OF AN ARBITER? SO THE KONG FAMILY WOULD SUFFER!?
its been a while, have a wonderful gubohuan evening
You as well.
[Hong Lu finds himself standing alone in the bus hallway as he waits for the last anon to materialize. Don Quixote's voice can be heard through the kitchen door, and Hong Lu can't help but feel slightly grateful that she is willing to entertain everyone for a brief moment.]
[Smoothing out the skirt of his dress, Hong Lu takes a deep breath. It's odd interacting with his anons in person. It's odd seeing his brother. It's odd being in such an outfit. Yet, Hong Lu can't pinpoint what emotion is making his heart beat this fast.]
[In his floundering, Hong Lu realizes that he can't predict how well this tea party will actually go. All of his planning was thrown out the window the moment his big brother announced he was coming. Before, there was a vision of Hong Lu sitting at a table gently speaking as he poured others tea. But now, his mind turns up blank as he tries to plan ahead.]
[Hong Lu has zero clue how to act. He doesn't know how to feel.]
[He wants to change, he wants to show that he has changed. Yet, Hong Lu doesn't know how to prove himself to his brother. Hong Lu doesn't know if he'll ever be on the same page as Jia Huan.]
[Hong Lu takes a deep breath, now isn't the time to go exploring his emotions. The man will unpack all of this later. It's his job to host this tea party. It's his job to make this tea party enjoyable.]
Ah...
[There's a small honk as an anon materializes next to Hong Lu, and the man finds himself somewhat curious about how they exist. All anons appear to Hong Lu as short grey human shaped creatures with sunglasses, and sometimes they have unique identifiers that help Hong Lu tell them apart. For example, this one appears to be holding some sort of magazine.]
You must be the Eavesdropping Anon~! Just in time, ehe.
[Hong Lu allows his normal whimsy to take over as everything else is pushed aside. Theres a ditsy grin on his face as he leans down to be at eye level for the vertically challenged creature.]
I have a table set to the side for someone's plushies. I was wondering if that would be an alright place for you to set up, because otherwise I can pull the chair elsewhere. I'll make sure you have plenty of snacks either way~!
[Hong Lu doesn't quite wait for the anon to respond. Not all anons can speak out loud, after all. Instead, Hong Lu leads the way to the kitchen and shows the anon where to sit. It's only when he's sure the Eavesdropping Anon is comfortable that he allows himself to join the main table for his tea party.]
Hello everyone, thank you for waiting~.
[Hong Lu finds himself content with the size of the group he is entertaining. It's not too big, but it's big enough to be considered a proper tea party.]
[Instead of going to the empty seat between Don Quixote and the Anon of Kindness and Peace, Hong Lu allows himself to stand in between Don Quixote and Jia Huan to reach the tea he had been steeping.]
[With the last second decision to prioritize the enjoyment of his guests over any sort of tea ceremony etiquette, Hong Lu pours the liquid from the teapot into the fairness cup.]
Today I'm offering red tea that is sourced from a farm in Hongyuan. It's known to be somewhat bitter, so if anyone needs sugar or milk I can bring them some. Though, the cups in my gongfu tea set are quite small, so we may need to bring a bigger cup if you want milk~.
[Hong Lu serves the tea directly from the fairness cup into the tasting cups, starting from his left with Jia Huan and going around the table until he finishes serving Don Quixote. Hong Lu pours the little leftover tea he has over small stone animal figures sitting in the middle of the table.]
Most of the city calls this black tea instead, which may be a more familiar title for most of you. The difference between the red and black names is the color of liquid versus the color of the tea leaves. It's quite interesting~.
[Hong Lu grins to himself as he starts the process of heating more water and steeping the leaves once more. It's only when Hong Lu is sure that everyone is settled that he allows himself to sit next to Don Quixote.]
There are also strawberries and cookies here in case anyone wants them. If you want more tea, I'll be happy to serve you~.
[And, with that, Hong Lu allows himself to sip his tea.]
@numberonefixerfan @jia-huan / @justanotherdeckhand @hellscreen04
VERILY!
[Standing slightly she puts her hands upon her hips, smiling widely as she shouts out]
'TIS A MOST WONDERFUL EVENT! I bid thee welcome, anons! Please do enjoy Hong Lu's wonderful cookies and tea, t'would be no pleasure but our own!
[And, upon her finishing her sentence she sits down. A vacant smile across her face for a moment as she contemplates- this was meant to be a small event... for just a few people, wasn't it?]
Eh-ehm Young Hong Lu?
[She leans over slightly towards him, Don doesn't know how much exactly Hong Lu has experience with hosting events like these but... she does, certainly. Though, it is also obvious that his current face- that facade he wore for most of the time she knew him -had returned.]
Mayhaps thou can'st enjoy conversing with thine guests, t'will be easy for me to dote upon them. Ah- and I wanted to ask if it be true that thou'rt well?
[Jia Huan kicks his foot onto the table, leaning back in his chair as he sips his tea]
The Tea you made, Baoyu, Is rather... Lackluster. Did you purchase a premade packet from the supermarket perhaps? It certainly tastes like it.
{Hallway POV}
[Everything happens quite quickly for Hong Lu. Questions being asked, a noise at the door, and opinions being made clear. And... For a brief moment, Hong Lu closes his eyes. A face of contemplation.]
Hmmn... I think I'm doing fine~.
[The murmur is under his breath, and there is a brief shake of Hong Lu's head as he speaks. In the following awkward silence, Hong Lu opens his eyes to examine the table.]
[Nobody else is complaining about the tea tasting bad. Nobody else seems to be offended. Yet, Jia Huan also lived in HCorp where drinking tea was quite common. Out of anyone else at this table, Big Brother Huan would definitely have a more valid opinion on the brew of a tea. If he says it's trash, then it simply is fact. Unfortunate.]
[Hong Lu doesn't let the smile leave as he lifts his own cup to his face. The smell of the tea carries a malty aroma, a rich earthy tone that almost reminds Hong Lu of roasted nuts. And, with his first sip, Hong Lu finds himself somewhat puzzled about what may be wrong with the tea. The tea retains a robust mouth feel, with a bitter toastiness at the center and a more gentle floral taste as its undertones. Everything about this brew is consistent with what he knows about this product of red tea.]
[Hong Lu gently sets down his cup.]
Ah... Apologies, Big Brother, perhaps I didn't flush the leaves correctly. Hopefully this second step will be more flavorful. Or, perhaps my jar for the red tea isn't as airtight as I thought and the flavor has changed over time.
[Hong Lu is quick to offer potential explanations as he stands from his seat once more. There's a charming smile on his face even as he faces off with Jia Huan's disrespect.]
If you wish I can make you some wulong tea in my gaiwan? I can show you the leaves before I brew it if you would like to check the quality~.
[A ceramic jar is gently moved to be placed between Jia Huan and Don Quixote. It is right next to where Huan's foot is resting. Upon opening the jar, you find a tea made of many many tiny leaves. Each leaf is twisted and dried, holding an almost unnatural darkness to them. The smell coming from the jar is almost floral with a hint of earthiness to it.]
I am going to go answer the door really quick, you can take some time with your decision~.
[And with a polite dip of his head, Hong Lu excuses himself to answer the knocking. The click of his heels is quite loud in the silent room.]
It appears we have some surprise guests~!
[Hong Lu opens the door in a cheery manner, offering a smile of whimsy to the two ladies standing in the hallway.]
Ah, your outfits are so nice! You can come in if you want, we are having a tea party.
Do you wanna show us to our seats or should I just pick any seat I want?
[she seems deeply exhausted]
Ryōshū made her way into the room, approaching with slow clicks of her heels. With a surprising, and one might daresay unnerving, display of courtesy, she bowed deeply to the anonymous guests and Jia Huan before taking her seat among her fellow Sinners. Even so, that persistent little sign of her individuality, her SANGRIA, remained.
"G.E."
[Standing up near immediately upon their arrival to the venue, she moved first to Ryōshū's side, escorting her in a similarly unnervingly cordial fashion. Upon her choosing of a seat, Don Quixote pulled that chair out and placed down a cup and plate. Though at the behest of Hong Lu she did not pour it, in spite of the fact she felt fairly confident that she could- recalling how she used to do so for the H-Corp elder.]
EHM- Lady Ishmael! T'would be mine pleasure to lead thee to thine seat- mayhaps thou could'st sit next to ehm-
[She glanced around for the least offensive person for what she thought Ishmael's sensibilities may be to sit her next to. Eventually landing on The Anon of Kindness and Peace]
Here! If thou need'st anything else, do ask!
Aye
[she moves to take her seat glaring daggers at the n corp member before straightening out her dress and doing some minor flexes and stretches to get comfortable. With her arms and shoulders uncovered by this dress it becomes pretty apparent just how strong Ishmael is. Beneath a small layer of fat sits an abnormal amount of muscle for someone of her build. It's deeply intimidating]
Oh! Thank you, Don Quixote~.
[Hong Lu follows the ladies back to the table, but this time he remains standing as he looks between everyone. Ah... Things seem quite tense.]
I'm glad you both could join us~! The second steep should be done soon. We are having red tea, but if you prefer something less bitter I can make you something else. Or I can grab you some juice. We also have some cookies and strawberries on the table as snacks.
[Hong Lu's voice remains peppy as he glances over to the Eavesdropping Anon. They seem to be enjoying themselves. And... This brings a fuzzy feeling into Hong Lu's throat, and the pull on his lips becomes a tad more genuine. At least someone's enjoying this tea party. Hong Lu hasn't entirely messed up yet.]
[When Hong Lu turns his attention back to the table, he finds the tense silence somewhat... Awkward. Hong Lu wouldn't normally care, he'd normally allow silences to be silences even if they are a bad sort of silence. But this isn't a time he can allow that. Not when people are relying on him for an enjoyable time.]
[Click, clack. The heels tap against the kitchen floor as Hong Lu returns to that opening between Jia Huan and Don Quixote. It's almost as if he's separating his big brother from the anger and annoyance that is coming from the rest of the sinners.]
[Hong Lu picks up the ceramic tea pot, briefly checking the contents inside before pouring the tea into the fairness cup. It appears Hong Lu has decided that the tea is done steeping. There's a charming grin on Hong Lu's face as he speaks to the table.]
The tea is done! Would anyone like a refill?
[Hong Lu doesn't bat an eye at his brother's continued disrespect. Even as the feet remain on the table, Hong Lu turns his attention to refilling Miss Yakumo's tea. It appears Hong Lu has simply decided to ignore the behaviour.]
[Jia Huan sips his tea quietly, eying the room. It seems as if the rest of his brother's insufferable circus of monkeys has arrived...]
Rest Assured, Baoyu, if any of your fellows raise arms against me, they won't have the arms to raise with after.
"Ho? I might like to see that. P.M.A.P."
She made an amused expression at Jia Huan. A little bit cocky, but humored. A razor-thin smile, seeping with malice. She raised a hand, gesturing for Hong Lu to pour her tea from the second steep.
I would, yet your insufferable dialect continues to make me want to bash this teacup over your head and tear out your vocal cords. Maybe then you would speak normally?
[Jia Huan takes another sip]
[Hong Lu finds himself standing alone in the bus hallway as he waits for the last anon to materialize. Don Quixote's voice can be heard through the kitchen door, and Hong Lu can't help but feel slightly grateful that she is willing to entertain everyone for a brief moment.]
