"The Borrowers is a light novel I did enjoy, but the idea of them existing in real life is ridiculous. "But I don't see any harm in celebrating a shared one once a year either for team building reasons. Like our own personal holiday. What do you think?"

"So I don't know if this birthday gift is beneath the 'chosen saviour of the world' as you call yourself, but I got it anyway." He brings out a landscape picture- this one has scores of blossoming trees. "Here. I thought it would be good for the season, too."

"You truly understand me, Takumi. You've turned my hate into love." Eito replies as he accepts the gift for his birthday. And, not bad. Since all of Earth's beautiful nature was destroyed by ugly humans, artistic renditions may be all he has left to enjoy of it now.

"Very well. The gift you chose is worthy of my admiration." Eito shrugs, because he obviously sounds so grateful. He also grabs a pack of sanitizer wipes and begins washing the frame for any parts Takumi might have touched.

He still hangs it up in his cage, though. Don't read into that too much.

"Ahhh, birthdays. A way to introduce young humans to the idea of insatiable greed and gluttony that will go on to shape how they see the world. Full of things they think they can just get for free."

Takumi lay in aching pain, crumpled and winded. He barely had time to move his head much less answer Eito, before the reason he made for the bathroom reared its head- a nausea so overwhelming that his body caved in violently in an instant, voiding itself of the water.

He retched, again and again. He gagged as he tried to force it to stop- but the spasms kept on, like they were trying to crush his ribs. It hurt something awful, but worse, it was like he could control nothing of his body. He couldn't even think about why he was feeling this way- the only thought that crossed his mind was that Eito was waiting for an answer and instead of giving one, he'd gone and messed up the floor.

Once the spasms had stopped, he used the barest strength to roll onto his front from the foetal position he was in, and tried to wriggle out of the room on his elbows. But every time he tried, it was like he couldn't put the arm in the right place, and his wayward eyes kept throwing him off balance. He slipped down with a thud, before he struggled to prop himself back up again, determined to reach the door of the hut.

The ceiling of rain continued to judge him, out of the corner of his eye.

Takumi let it do so. There was no room for self pity.

"Ei... to? Sh-shorry..."

His voice came out in a slurred, cracked whimper, while his mouth was utterly parched. But he had to say this much- say anything, really.

Good. The poison is already taking effect. Takumi usually sounds god awful but the beast is already slurring and wheezing in the way those humans do when they're sick. Eito knows the sound well, having heard many ill and sickly beasts growing up in the hospital. Even if he "lived" in a different wing, there was no avoiding it when he'd spent years of his life in the place.

Oh how he wants to burst down the door and watch him suffer. But Eito must remain patient. The days of humanity have been numbered since he arrived in this damn school, and he will see to their execution once everything is in place.

Patience. Patience. He can endure. He must, to see his dream come true.

"You don't sound all too well, Takumi. Can I come in and help?"

He must continue to play the oblivious idiot. Oh, how he hates the facade, but he must not let it crack too soon. Besides, if he can get an in as Takumi's head caretaker, his current plan can continue without interruption from someone who might notice what's actually WRONG with Takumi.

Note to self, keep that Yugamu character as far away from the crime scene as possible.

"You know I care, so please let me in. I just want to make sure you're okay."
