my first pokemon (my snorlax, zee) was given to me by a random trainer after I helped them catch him. I still don't know why there was a snorlax in unova but it was like. Right after all the shit with plasma in 2010 so there was a lot going on ecologically

My Beldum (now Deep Blue the Metagross) was a gift from my father. I was three. This was perhaps not the most responsible choice of Pokemon for a toddler, but “responsible” is not really what the Stone family is known for.

My grandfather was actually a fairly prominent trainer himself, long before I was ever thought of. His single partner was a Garchomp. (Her name's Tempest, she still lives in the mountains near my hometown, Grandpa goes to visit her when he has the time and his knees aren't giving him too much trouble.)

He wanted to settle down and start a family, Tempest wanted to settle down and start a family. I don't know all the details, but I've gathered that it was a bit harder on Tempest's end than it was on my grandfather's, because the first viable egg she got needed a lot of special care and wouldn't have survived in the wild.

In the end, though, it worked out. The little Gible was fine once she'd actually hatched, but Tempest and Grandpa decided that it would probably be better for her to stay with a human from there, and, well. I'd been pestering him for a couple of years about when I'd be able to have a pokemon of my own at that point already.

Anyway, that's how I got my Garchomp.

(Remind me to share some stories about how I met my other teammates sometime.)

I caught my Ralts while traveling alongside Augustine when we were younger. At the time, I didn't want to be a trainer. But then we had to battle a trainer that routinely abused their Pokemon... I couldn't help but keep the Ralts that didn't want to leave my side.

Unfortunately for that disgusting creep, Ralts was strong against all of the Pokemon he tried to use. I was able to stop him with my first battle, and the other Pokemon are now living in Augustine's lab, and in the care of our friend, Lysandre.
