Chris (the director and Vegeta) thought it was funny as hell to cast another guy named Chris (as Piccolo)

King Piccolo was easy to cast, his actor Takeshi was picked almost immediately due to his fame in more adult movies and shows, but he knew it was because of his imposing stature and started to express more interest in acting for kids shows. Making a statement about scary looking guys. He was more than satisfied with being a saturday morning villain

King Piccolo's reincarnation was NOT easy to cast, because no matter how far Chris looked, he could not find another actor THAT tall. Eventually he caved and just cast the next guy he thought was correct, another guy named Chris, nowhere near as tall as Takeshi but he was perfect in every other way Chris was looking for
