Blue Prince
The best new indie game!!
static.wixstatic.com
What the game hides
Beyond the mechanical challenge, there’s real narrative depth. The lore about your inheritance, your great-uncle, and the secret 46th room is subtly woven through exploration, notes, room design, and repeated runs slowly piece together a bigger mystery. The game’s aesthetic is clean but atmospheric, and its pacing is relaxed enough that failures feel like discoveries rather than wastes: even failed runs usually teach you something new.
That said, because of its randomness, some runs feel unfair or frustrating, getting “stuck” with bad room draws, for example. But that’s also part of the loop: you adapt, learn, and try again. The community seems quite engaged, and many players find the trial-and-error addictive.
Honest Score — 8.5 / 10
Strengths:
Extremely creative gameplay loop
High replay value because of procedurally changing rooms
Deep, subtle storytelling woven into the environment
Beautiful, thoughtful design and solid production
Drawbacks:
Can feel punishing or RNG-heavy at times
Some players might struggle with the randomness in early runs
A few niche accessibility issues (e.g., color-based puzzles)
Would i Recommend it?
Absolutely! if you like puzzle games, strategy, or games where exploration and experimentation feel rewarding. Blue Prince is a thoughtful, smart indie that’s worth sinking time into.
What do you think? Does this sound like a game you would enjoy?
