This is my design of a smart home control app.
In this model, you get to access your devices in the living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom 1, bedroom 2 and guest room.
You also get to look at your 3D home model and pick which of your rooms you would like to control.
A little designing practice to play with shades.
Truly enjoyed it and definitely doing more of this !
Created with Figma
I'm happy to finally post my first design that I have been working on lately and I would like to share my journey.
I started this design as practice that was mainly about following simple design steps from a Youtube video by DesignSense. Right after I was done with that I got carried away adding more and more frames just because I enjoyed it.
Obviously, I skipped some important steps like the checkout pages and account settings and I was focused on creating a realistic menu with different objects and kept adding pages for each item.
As excited as I was with the progress I made, I still felt that my design was boring and therefore I started watching more videos about prototyping, scrolling, components and auto layouts. This is how I learned to make all the interactive items and added those to my design.
While aware of the work I was still supposed to do, I decided I'd show off my progress and get some feedback from my friends. I got suggested a feedback page which I have completely forgotten about and so I went and added that.
Another idea was to change the Sign in/ Sign up corner in the "Homepage - Not Logged in" but I wasn't so convinced about that which led me to trying 4 different alternative designs and posting it in my private Instagram story with a poll so that I can see how others would feel about the designs and which is more preferred by the majority. It was an overall fun experience because I got to share my work with some other friends who were interested in seeing it.
And now that I feel like my design is ready to get judged by the internet, I am choosing to post it and would love to get some comments/ feedback to help me see what I could have been missing or how I can improve it.
Feel free to contact me with your honest opinion !
