Was low key disrespected yesterday by someone who “was just trying to be nice!” (Their words). Felt angry sinking feeling in gut. Is this ego injury? How many times have I felt this without realizing what it was? Or am I just over analyzing and it’s not ego injury? I scream into void.

I’m okay tho cuz I was also told I was someone’s favourite camp counsellor, and another said I was the nicest one they’d ever had. Confidence is still splendid even tho there was that and another thing that usually could’ve made me spiral.

Narcissus was a victim and it's very strange how his name got twisted to be the common descriptor for abusers. All bro did was be beautiful and walk through the forest, and a woman he didn't know jumped out and hugged him without consent, and he rightfully rejected her. And then she fucking cursed him to fall in love with his reflection and he died from being too distracted to eat. Most people don't seem to know he was cursed though, they just go "haha look at this idiot he's in love with himself what a jackass". But he had no choice.

At least people with NPD have claim to his name as well. People with NPD are also victims of abuse who develop the disorder from said abuse(the curse is basically the same as traumatising someone to the point they develop a disorder), and are misunderstood just like him.

"Narc abuse" believers DNI i am a proud ally to people with NPD. your abuser wasn't abusive BECAUSE of NPD, if they even had it. you don't go around talking about "OCD abuse" or "autist abuse", bc that's fucking ableist. same shit, different ass.

I feel the need to rant about this as someone with NPD

Has anyone else noticed the uptick in people excusing their continued, derogatory use of the word narcissist with the justification "it's a personality trait, it's different from NPD"? Does it piss anyone else off? It really pisses me off. Because it's just wrong.

Narcissist is the term for someone with NPD. If you do not have NPD but display narcissistic traits, you are just self absorbed. The term narcissist in the cultural zeitgeist has never been used with any nuance in mind between "narcissistic" peoples and people with NPD, it's just something to demonize in the end. The word narcissist has no meaning without NPD, it's literally a branch off of NPD and has the same baggage of NPD unless further specified.

Like I said, it's never specified, because narcissists are not given considerate thought or the time of day, and a lot of people believe we don't deserve that thoughtful nuance. For people who use this word but want to be thoughtful, using the words self absorbed, self interested, or self centered, get the point across JUST FINE without the needed specification of intent or the root cause of said self centeredness.

Give your local narcissist 10 dollars, and if you're a narcissist, go treat yourself to something/have a loved one treat you

I like to imagine a whole thing in the Motherlobe after the second game about the return of the Psychic Seven + Truman and all that, and while Compton gives it a try, he does get anxious at some point. So he decides to take a breather in an empty room.

Except it’s not empty. He sees two of the people he hasn’t seen for a very long time: Otto, and of course their honourary nephew. Because those two also got overwhelmed from all the people.

And then Compton brings in some therapy animals so they can all just relax, like he used to before everyone split up. And that would be his first step to regaining Truman’s trust, cuz I headcanon that he feels very betrayed (doesn’t entirely blame them, but there’s resentment cuz they left during a hard period of his life), and wouldn’t let the Seven back into his life that easily (except Otto, cuz Otto never left).

-You hate the idea of being less moral than others, and want to become the most moral person. You view morality as a competition which you hope to win at.

-You find euphoria (narc supply) in helping others, either from within yourself or from external sources like people being grateful towards you.

-You excessively people please and self-sacrifice in hopes of currying people's favor/being liked, being overly giving at your own expense.

-You have a rigid and inflexible moral code that you refuse to bend on, seeing it as the objective truth or standard for the world even if it is deeply wrong.

-You have a tendency to view others as in need of your help when they really do not need it.

-You might fantasize about being able to fix problems like world hunger, bigotry, and climate change and believe you're the one capable of fixing these problems if you jUst HaD thE PowER. (mocking myself here)

-You tend to split over people you've helped, especially if they don't seem grateful for your help.

-You feel as if you're one of the only moral individuals in a deeply cruel world.
