The Hague skyline. The De Kroon residential tower can be seen on the left. On the right are the JuBi towers housing the Ministry of Justice and Security and the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. In the middle, you can still see the tip of the Resident, which houses the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport together with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. I converted the photo to black and white and pulled the blue all the way to black, creating a very distinct atmosphere. The lamppost in the foreground provides a playful contrast to the towers in the background.

This small castle is Huygens Hofwijck in Voorburg. It was the country house of poet Constantijn Huygens and later of his son the scientist Christiaan Huygens. If the weather is good, you have a nice reflection of the little castle in the water of the Vliet here. But because Voorburg is close to the coast, it is not often that it is windless here. And when it is a nice windless day, boats sail by all the time, creating a long-lasting ripple in the water. I took this photo on a summer evening in September. In the evening, the risk of passing boats is lower, but just at the moment suprême, a boat did pass by in the semi-darkness. After waiting for about 15 minutes, the ripples had finally subsided and I was able to take the photo. By cropping the photo square, the trees on the side provide a nice frame.

Reflectie van Huygens Hofwijck in Voorburg in de avond | Stedelijke Fotografie Kleur

Dit kleine kasteel is Huygens Hofwijck in Voorburg. Het was de buitenplaats van dichter Constantijn Huygens en later van zijn zoon de wetenschapper Christiaan Huygens. Als het meezit heb je hier een mooie reflectie van het kasteeltje in het water van de Vliet. Maar omdat Voorburg dicht bij de kust ligt, komt het niet vaak voor dat het hier windstil is. En als het een mooie windstille dag is, dan varen er de hele tijd bootjes langs die voor een langdurige rimpeling van het water zorgen. Deze foto heb ik op een zomerse avond in september gemaakt. In de avond is het risico op voorbij varende bootjes kleiner, maar juist op het moment suprême kwam er in het halfdonker toch nog een bootje voorbij. Na een klein kwartier wachten was de rimpeling eindelijk weggetrokken en kon ik de foto maken. Door de foto vierkant uit te snijden zorgen de bomen aan de zijkant voor een mooi kader.

Reflection of the former Roman Catholic orphanage in Alkmaar | Stedelijke Fotografie Kleur

This former Roman Catholic orphanage (Roomsch Catholijk Weeshuijs) on the Verdronkenoord in Alkmaar was designed in 1818 by city architect Willem Hamer. After the orphanage closed, the building was the home of the Roman Catholic Church until 1979. Kindergarten Don Bosco. From 1981 to the end of 2013, the theater and film house Provadja was located in the building. Provadja was founded in 1971 in Alkmaar as one of the first art cinemas in the Netherlands. In 2017, the property was sold to a project developer who will build 13 apartments in it.
