                     he  had  planned  it  all  out . decided  on  a  weekend  of  doing  nothing  but  spending  time  with  stella  with  the  hope  of  popping  the  question  when  the  time  was  right , though  he  was  sure  she’d  choose  work  over  him  any  day  of  the  week . and  he  was  right . she  did . and  how  could  he  ever  protest  and  crush  her  dreams  ?  she  deserved  to  make  it  big , to  follow  her  dreams , even  if  they  no  longer  involved  him . “ does  it  even  matter  now ? ” he  deflects , unable  to  bring  himself  to  admit  that  he’d  pictured  a  future  with  the  blonde , that  he’d  chosen  her  when  the  feeling  didn’t  seem  to  be  mutual . “ it’s  stupid  i  know , i  thought –– .. nevermind . did  you  get  all  your  things  together ? ” he  hopes  not , not  wanting  her  to  leave  for  good  just  yet .

 if  he  had  gotten  that  chance  to  ask  ,  stella  would’ve  said  yes.  that  was  the  unfortunate  part  of  this  entire  situation.  she  knew  that  she  should’ve  tried  hard  to  make  time  for  him  ,  but  as  she  got  closer  and  closer  to  getting  her  foot  in  acting  ,  she  didn’t  want  to  fuck  it  up.  so  instead  ,  she  let  the  love  of  her  life  go  ,  and  look  where  that  got  her.  “  yeah  ,  it  matters.  ”  she  responds  softly  ,  and  she  knows  it’s  only  because  she  wants  to  hear  him  say  it  ,  and  maybe  she  wants  him  to  know  she  wishes  she  had  never  caused  them  to  break  up.  but  he  was  right  ,  it  didn’t  matter  now.  “  it’s  not  stupid  ,    i ––  ”  she  sighs  ,  shaking  her  head.  “  no  ,  i  found  the  ring  and  i  stopped.  i  still  have  a  bit  to  collect.  i’m  sorry  if  it’s  taking  me  too  long  it’s  just  .  .  .  ”  she  stops  ,  finally  making  eye  contact  with  him.  “  it’s  hard.  ”

 despite  the  fact  that  he  thinks  declan  is  full  of  shit  ,  he  still  has  an  incredibly  kind  nature.  he  thinks  about  it  ,  studying  the  look  on  the  others  face.  maybe  this  was  different  ,  maybe  he  really  did  change.  it  had  been  years  ,  people  were  able  to  grow  up  ,  he  believed  that.  even  the  one  that  made  his  life  a  living  hell.  “  we  haven’t  had  the  best  part  together  ?  you  literally  made  me   miserable.  ”  he  doesn’t  sound  bitter  ,  instead  just  confused  ,  almost  amused.  his  eyes  glance  around  ,  taking  in  their  surroundings  ,  taking  in  the  fact  that  this  was  actually  happening  to  him  right  now.  “  can  we  do  this  somewhere  .  .  .  else  ?  ”  he  doesn’t  mean  for  it  to  sound  suggestive  ,  but  he  also  doesn’t  want  to  be  talking  to  his  ex  -  bully  in  such  a  public  manner.  then  again  ,  maybe  it  was  better  to  be  public  ,  just  in  case  this  was  some  sick  joke.  “  actually  ,  you  know  what  ,  this  is  fine.  i’ll  hear  you  out  ,  but  i  don’t  know  what  you  could  possible  have  to  say  that’s  going  to  fix  anything.  ”  his  voice  is  soft  ,  calm  ,  eyes  watching  the  male  in  front  of  him  carefully.  “  but  fine  .  .  .  i’ll  hear  you  out.  ”
