I think people dont give the Daybreak trio enough credit for how amazing and truely tragic they are. Which is probably because its the mobile game trio and most people dont really care about the mobile game (which honestly i get it but its absolutely one of the best stories kingdom hearts has told)
But god i am smashing my head against a wall everytime I think about them they are so underrated
Like they are up there with the sea salt and wayfinder trio in terms of tragedy and they did NOT have their happy end yet. And honestly i doubt they ever will considering how difficult it would be to bring the player into the story like that
Skuld and ephemer literally WENT TO A WAR to save the players life and in the end all of them were seperated in such a horrible way
Like these two were so ready to die fighting darkness so the player could go take the lifeboat and escape but the player just couldnt accept that. They could not accept having their friends who literally saved their life die saving it again. So instead they fucking reversed the roles by pretending to be possessed by darkness, attacking them and forcing ephemer to literally KILL THEM SO THESE TWO COULD SURVIVE INSTEAD OF THEM.
AND THEY NEVER KNEW THEIR FRIEND WAS JUST PRETENDING
And god it doesnt get much better with ephemer and skuld either. Their final conversation still hurts my soul so bad
"Thank you for being here ephemer. Im glad i dont have to face the end alone"
"Its not over till its over skuld"
"Right..."
These two are killing me. This girl expected to die then and there and you cant convince me otherwise. (Which also fits with the first sentence from the subject x secret report what) Now im fully convinced skuld is subject x which would mean that THESE TWO GOT SEPERATED AND SKULD FORGOT ALL ABOUT HIM AND THE PLAYER. Not only that but that would mean she also got tortured by xehanort for god knows how long until xigbar freed her. Like im sorry but that conversation makes my head so OTFAPZAZFPS because if the theory is true. Skuld did end up alone. She was so glad to not be alone but she did end up truely alone. She didnt have anyone. She didnt even have herself because she didnt know who "herself" even is. She had isa and lea eventually. Sometimes. For a bit. Until she lost them too when xigbar took her away. We dont know where she is. She still doesnt know who she is. She has no idea. And yet considering shes still alive and kicking i assume that she hasnt fully given up. BECAUSE ITS NOT OVER TILL ITS OVER. NOMURA PLEASE LOOK AT WHAT YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON IF YOU MAKE AVA SUBJECT X. PLEASE DONT LOOK AT ALL THIS ANGST POTENTIAL AND SAY AVA IS SUBJECT X.
SKULD WOULD LITERALLY BE THE LAST LIVING MEMBER OF THE TRIO CAN YOU IMAGINE THE ANGST AND SURVIVORS GUILT
And you know. Ephemer ended up all alone too. One of his best friends died by his hands which he will feel forever guilty for. He and his other friends got seperated by literal time. He didnt seem to be alive in missing link when brain arrived. He most likely died never seeing any of his friends again. Yes he did found scala and yes he is a very renowed keyblade wielder and did so many good things. But he still lost all his friends with possibly even being aware of the fates that awaited them if it was written in the book of prophecies. He too ended up alone. Maybe he made new friends. But he still lost it all
And things like these make me wish union x was a console title because god these 3 are so underrated. So incredibly underrated and they dont deserve it. Genuienly i am so excited for kh4 simply because I want too see the union x story continue and i cant wait to see them again.
