I was surprised to see people calling Leona Kingscholar Black. Officially, I’m pretty sure he’s only described as a beastman, so I wonder why they thought that.

This is more of a reflection on episode 1, but I was reminded again of how mysterious YuuKen’s background is.
Why does he never mention his parents? Well, the same is true for the prefect in the game version, but at least the one in the novel does talk about them.
Officially, his kendo skills are said to surpass the level of a typical high school student. That means he likely didn’t start practicing kendo only after entering high school. Yet he chose to attend a high school that doesn’t even have a kendo club. Why is that?
And why isn’t he the captain of the kendo club, but rather the vice-captain? It’s an important position, of course, but considering he helped establish the club from scratch and is supposedly exceptionally skilled, it’s strange that he isn’t the captain.
He never talks about his parents, but his name clearly suggests that they, too, have a connection to kendo — the “Ken” (剣) in his name uses the same kanji as the “ken” in “kendō” (剣道). I hope the anime will reveal more about his background.
I watched episode 2 of the anime. Here are my thoughts.
Ace’s first impression feels a lot better this time. The worst portrayal was definitely in the novel, then in the game — the anime version is by far the most toned down.
Deuce is honestly nothing but a victim, but the headmage treats everyone that way, so it ended up being kind of funny. Still, I feel like the way Yuuken is treated only passes because he doesn’t show any sense of despair. Normally, anyone else would be crying and throwing a fit.
