Taking a small break from my more or less alphabetical run to indulge myself in a personal obsession (not really, but pretty damned close), the flawless Teri Martine.
Teri was born Valerie Christine Arscott in Southend, Essex, in 1944. Taken to modeling early on (her calling for certain, given her obvious blessings), it took little time before she was scooped up by yet another legend, June Palmer. She ended up a premier George Harrison Marks girl for some time. This pic was taken by him in 1966.
She did do some other work, post-GHM, but the interesting thing is that once she had found the budding dominance/nascent BDSM-type scene to be harmless, she moved more into this direction from classical pinup-style modeling. Nothing too graphic, mind you, at least that I am aware, but generally just the whips-and-leather type posing.
Even more intriguing is that Teri did not retire from modeling until 2009, at the age of 65! At that time she was only doing occasional shoots for fan photogs, but as a result there is a body of work out there spanning her life from her youngest adulthood to becoming a legal senior citizen! I’ve made it a point to procure a few of her later images, and I believe that no honest man could deny that she was anything less than beautiful, even at that age. My only regret, as weird as it might sound to some, is that she retired at all. Having gone so far, I would have selfishly preferred that she continued modeling to the bitter end…what a very unique and impactful legacy that would have left! But, as the bard says, you can’t always get what you want. I remain thankful we got what we needed, the spectacular woman that was and is Teri Martine. She’s still with us, alive and well (and still looking fantastic at the age of 74!), and continues to be incredibly kind and generous to her fans.
