desmond miles ( + shaun/becs): do you guys think he canonically watched death note?? i think it is very possible he watched it.
he would be team L because he has Trauma from people "killing for a good cause" and thinks ive played these games before i am not falling for this propaganda (genuinely believes death note is assassin propaganda when he starts it, but that's the paranoia brain talking. he gets over it by episode 3). he would be so painfully normal about it. "hey dude were you team L or Kira?" and he's so casual like "Oh dude im team L of course haha. killing people is bad it doesn't matter how!" he says, having run away from being indoctrinated into an order of assassins. he joins them again later and is still team L because he likes to stick with things.
lowkey he would really like mello are we seeing my vision? he's such a non-conventional "good" character. he doesn't look the part, he doesn't talk or act the part, he's emotional and irrational but he's so smart and he has his own sense of justice but it fits him. he will do the right thing and go about it in all the wrong ways, because in his world that's the only way of doing things. he would love mello and no not because mello has a motorbike. he would like near and matt, too, but he would get excited when mello was on screen. then come shaubecca. in my heart they are SO staunchly pro kira simply because of the aurafarming. shaun hastings loves teru mikami get this man a body pillow. rebecca loves light yagami because he is stupid and cool and also crazy and she is wildly entertained. shaun hastings loves teru mikami because he is cool and mysterious and he kills people with flair. what did he think about teru mikami in the last episode? don't ask him about that he will ignore you. he will say kira deserved to win and he will stick by it because he is stubborn
altaïr ibn-la’ahad: ok HEAR ME OUT PRE AND POST AC1.
PRE AC1… do we even have to say it. this man is kira with L’s backstory. he was an orphan taken in by an old man who cultivated him for one single purpose and by the time he reached adulthood that purpose was the only thing he had going for him.. (L backstory)
altaïr kills people already, but there’s a strict code for him to adhere by (… the ASSASSINS CREED) but he strays from it bc he thinks hes better and knows it all (kira killing point blank period because he thinks he’s better and knows it all) but the difference is he faces consequences and he thinks oh shit i have to stop before i get more of these because he might be a killer, but he’s a killer with empathy!! kira gets consequences and thinks, very unhealthily, oh if i become better i wont get any more of these plus i hate all of you and im smart! and keeps going. and never stops.
POST AC1: altaïr would immediately be like yeah hell no i used to be like that. im on whatever side is the opposite. then he would support L. he doesnt delve deep into L’s side he just doesnt want to support kira. but if you put him in a room and let him think for long enough his little philosophical side will kick in and he’ll think what the hell is wrong with both of them. is anyone in this show normal? he ends up liking near (he understands the implications of wammy’s house and Avoids Having Any Thoughts Abt Grooming because they hit too close to home), but he does have a weird fondness in his heart for kira because it just shows him what he would’ve been if he hadn’t redeemed himself, and how he used to be. he fucking hates kira but he feels sorry for the guy at times because he’s quite literally been there before
ezio auditore: he was juvenile and petty but he DID NOT have an inflated sense of self like kira or altair so he’d recognise that for what it is pretty quickly and that’d turn him off of kira asap.
because they’re assassins, they dont have that ‘killing people is bad!!’ idea, the entire point of the brotherhood is ‘killing bad people to keep everyone else safe’ so it’s safe to say he’d first think: oh yeah, if i got the death note i would do this exact thing! and then by the time the raye penber and naomi misora saga starts (ep 5-8 i think), and kira shows that he’ll not only kill criminals but any of his opposition, ezio turns the television off and goes for a very long walk.
ezio, as demonstrated at the end of AC2, thinks live and let live but also don't be an asshole. he couldn’t care less if people were trying to stop him or not, he says: not my circus, not my monkeys. if someone wants to disagree with me, why should i care? nobody has to do anything at all if we’re being technical. insert 5 page long explanation of nothing is true everything is permitted.
worth noting that while in AC you can kill guards who aren't directly templars without animus repercussions, they canonically would sneak past and try to minimise the casualties. they won't go out of their way to kill people trying to stop them, unike kira, but they understand when it's necessary
ezio would think about it real hard and think: L is smart and he’s trying to stop kira and he’s quite funny so i like him. is he morally questionable? yes but he’s funny and also i like him so its ok he deserves to be a little bit silly just as a treat. he thinks near and mello are quite cute characters but L is his favourite. rip ezio u would have loved matsuda. he thought misa was very cute but also crazy but he liked her so it was ok

connor kenway / ratonhnhaké:ton: are you kidding he would fucking hate kira IMMEDIATELY.
unlike altaïr and ezio, he thinks why the hell is this teenager killing people with a murder notebook i already know what this is going to entail. by episode 10 he is saying to himself: kira's lucky i wasnt there i would have caught and killed him and ended this show asap.
connor has a very strong sense of empathy and i feel like he's got such a good grasp on morality that he could be DEAF AND BLINDFOLDED and still think i hate kira he needs to die now. BUT it is for this exact reason he doesn't particularly like L either. he understands that L used unconventional methods because the ends justify the means, he knows that you've got to kill a few people and torture a few dudes to find stuff out, sure. he does NOT like that L is thoroughly entertained by kira. connor hates kira with passion he cannot fathom that someone so smart and influential would find that lunatic entertaining and even an equal. kira will come on the screen and connor will clench his fists with rage. we don't know how he survived the entire show. he almost dropped it after episode 25.
connor is NEITHER team L nor kira because he thinks wtf? what are they doing? this is not how normal suspects and detectives operate, surely? why are they entertained and fulfilled by one another this is sickening, this is horrible, they want each other dead but they're purposefully playing this weird psychological game? he is astounded. he is baffled. he is pissed off. he is like is there anyone in this show who has a good set of moral and ISNT entertained by this mass murderer? yes, near! he likes near. he wishes near got introduced earlier. he loves near because he hates everyone else. he also likes aizawa. has to hold himself back from punching the TV whenever mikami was on screen.
haytham kenway: team kira. do i even need to explain myself
edward kenway: when kira came on the screen so did he.
he was like "wait why are you booing him he's RIGHT!!" but then he would think, if kira was real he will deathnote the fuck out of me!! and then he thinks okay i will love kira from a distance. as the show goes on he finds it so morbidly entertaining that he just has to keep rooting for kira because his spiral is so beautifully insane. post-redemption edward would watch the show and drop it at ep25 because he's like fuck...... there goes my emotional support thing.. he was funny even if he was anti kira. genuinely despises near. do we know why? hell no. he is just one of those near haters. media literacy on zero! he did like mello, tho. he LOVED matt and his 1 minute of screentime. he found matt genuinely hilarious. matt is his favourite character simply because of That. likes misa because she is cute and crazy and he's like "if i was a woman that would be soo me."
arno dorian: unity era he is a staunch kira supporter it's kind of scary.
kinda sees the appeal for mikalight solely because two kiras together makes him feel giddy because he loves kira so much. mikami is his self insert. he is soo pro-kira it's kind of crazy. "so what if he had a god complex? HE WAS A GOD. AND HE WAS RIGHT, AND HE LOOKED COOL WHILE DOING IT!" everyone says "bro what death note did you watch" and absolutely loved the remmisa sideplot. do we need to say why? of course not. hopeless romantic at heart. ugly cried at episode 25.
dead kings era he would NOT FUCK WITH KIRA! he would be team L, tho, despite L's ambiguous morality. he would think wow what was i on back then Thank God I Am More Sane. his favourite character becomes someone niche and on some bs like soichiro because he is a father and he is willing to go so far for his son. arno does not think "wow he is letting L do this to his son", he thinks "of course L has to do this to his son. its for the greater good... he is so me." and he would not care about near/mello/matt at all. read LABB and loves naomi misora because it reminds him of elise somehow. tear stains on the pages
