NOTE: I will be using the development version of Clangen for my runs because it's the version of Clangen I have the source code of and it's easier to muck around with the save files when running the game from source + i don't feel like downloading the source for stable when I already have the app for stable. So it's not very likely, but possible I will post about these new features here.

Bocceshade is one of Aden's kits. Aden's that one guy who was deputy in the 3 moon gap between Argotmane retiring and changing his mind, and then got captured by twolegs while his children were still babies and then his first thought was that "he loves his new life of freedom" while his kids got orphaned. questionable guy. last i checked Aden does miss the clan, but still, what was that. Bocceshade's brother, meanwhile, brought back 5 kits at 21 moons old (one of them being Ciabattapaw), ended up mentoring one of those five kits (not Ciabattapaw) and then immediately made his apprentice (who is also his son) fight a dog. Bocceshade is in weird company

clangen playstyle idea: switches

so earlier in my first alphabetclan post i mentioned that kitty Bruleeflicker had the rank of "switch" and then proceeded to. not explain what that meant. so i'm going to explain what that means.

in-lore, switches are cats who are warriors most of the time, but have more knowledge and experience with healing than other warriors for whatever reason. this means that when the medicine cats get sick or injured or otherwise can't work, or when there's just not enough medicine cats and they need extra paws, the switches can temporarily pause their warrior duties and dedicate their abilities to helping the medicine cats with their work.

in-game, switches are cats that you press "switch to medicine cat" when the game yells at you that "there's not enough medicine cats in the clan!" for whatever and press "switch to warrior" when the cats who were always medicine cats can take care of more cats than there are in the clan. so it's not so much of an official rank and more of a way of playing your cats so StarClan's supply of injuries doesn't get unloaded onto your cats when one medicine cat gets taken out and you don't want to apprentice anyone new because you know it's not going to be a permanent decomissioning.

for example (non-alphabetclan bc i don't feel like moonskipping): poor Base2Clan doesn't have enough medicine cats because Rimethroat's busy having a mangled tail. whatever will they do?

as for who i decide will be switches i usually just decide who's actually a switch as i need to lol. for example when both one or more of the medics are out of commission at the same time that Brushfreckle is i just randomly pick another one of the warriors and save their position in the switch priority line. in that case it was another cat named Rockleaf, they're the 2nd in line to become medicine cat if either brushfreckle's assistance isn't enough or brushfreckle just can't assist. and if all of the above and rockleaf aren't available / not enough, the 3rd in line switches over or if I don't have a 3rd in line ready i randomly pick one. etc. etc.

although to prevent this being a total copout i only pick from cats with skills that could benefit the medicine cat position. which according to my personal rules isn't just healing or starclan skills but also campkeeping, sensing, climbing etc. (since in-game the previous 3 skills do have benefits for the medicine cats)
