For her time already in Talia, Pumalao was only held much worth of a fairly acquainted area for the young woman. Comfortably adjusting to the facets of distance between her and the U.K. were buried under much of the daily tasks and strangeness that came from the curious faces on the island who passed her way and knocked on her door. Beyond the sun’s setting and in the late night, she could only find that her familiarity and fondness for Pumalao grew a bit in the margins of her comfort. Maybe it had been her disposition of wandering and avoiding large crowds, the distance being her preference, that she loomed more when the stars were high and above.
Yet, she had been one who was caught more in wandering further away from home and a path devised by herself and the emotions dwelling in each new thought. “Is that my phone–” Sophie murmurs under her breath, feeling to her side a soft vibrating. As she withdraws her phone from the pocket of her apron, she skims down the messages and musters a genial chuckle. Forgetting to log off of the IM server wasn’t something she was all too proud of admitting yet, it gave her glimpses of humor in the late night. As she crossed her ankles, minding herself to a seat in a most likely than deserted area, Sophie hadn’t taken too much focus on those around her.
“Hm?” Alas, her attention wasn’t truly diverted from reality. In front of her had been a red wine eyed man and, thankfully, was further away. “Oh, pardon me,” Sophie tucks away her phone and scoots back onto the bench, straightening her back. As the other bows, the woman’s tongue was held in observing. ‘Goodness, this is truly something,’ she mused the thought of the placidity of politeness in front of her. Though, it had been concluded that, most likely, it had been out of a need for something, not out of genuine niceness.
“Pumalao’s Paradise?” Repeating the title to herself, the woman rubs her wrist and glances around the area, with only several unfamiliar faces around. In hindsight, she should’ve been back there to finish several commissions and address late emails that her stepmother’s secretary forwarded to her as, well, she truly was the one who got all the work done.
“You’re quite far from there, truthfully,” Sophie begins as she slowly rises from the wooden bench and crosses her arms. Glancing to and fro, recollecting her sense of direction and memory of the paths she’d taken to get from there to home, she nods. “Acquiring a taxi might be your best choice to go there since it’s terribly dark,” Sophie muses on the note, “Yet, finding a taxi out here would prove difficult at this hour.”
“Are you needing to meet someone there,” the inquiry slips from her as, still, the curiosity that rings on the horizon of her mind remain ever so present. “Thankfully, we’re central and not too far south,” muttered the woman as her eyes examined the paths. ‘To the left and down the alley….past the dirt roads…’ Retracing her steps wouldn’t take all that long.
『 Ah, no- I live there, actually. 』
He supposes it isn’t too much to say; after all, the chances of something happening just by mentioning that much were slim.
『 I’m just terrible at navigating, especially this late at night. And.... 』
He looks down at the ground, slight embarrassment shining through his stoic facade. As much as he tries to school his features, he can’t help but be abashed at the fact that he's still broke, his entire savings thus far barely covering the expenses of his house, much less having transportation to and from it.
『 ....I’ve no money at the moment. If you were to point me in the general
direction, however, I would be able to find my way....I believe. 』
