It's been so long

So, my last appointment was on July 11th 2014, it was a big day for me, they told me to finish the last of my accutane, which was maybe around 4 days worth and then to stop them completely.

It's been 180 days since then. My skin is AMAZING. I have the odd spot at the moment but I think that's due to stress over the holiday period, but nothing like what it was before. My skin is clear, no red blotches under the skin and I've stopped being sensitive to small scratches, I used to have red marks for days when playing with the puppy, now I don't at all. I don't have a webcam atm, but I'll get some photos later today

Sorry for the picture being on its side. My phone is stupid. I went to the derm on the 11th hoping to be told I could come off the accutane. And guess what? I can! I just have to take what I had remaining from my last prescription. About 4 days worth. So I should be officially coming off on Tuesday. I'd like to do a big post then, but we'll see if I have time. Generally though. Accutane is sketchy as hell. But it works. Love x

Hi Guys

So this is my last month on accutane, my last appointment will be on the 11th July. It's weird, I feel scared of coming off them, the mood swings, the bad lips, the sore skin, the weird appetite, it's all been worth it to know that my skin is getting better, but what if I come off them and my skin gets worse again, then it's all been for nothing?

I worry too much.

My lips are a cracked, bloody mess, I have to asses the chapstick situation every time before I kiss my boyfriend. I also swear that the tablets have made me more emotional during my periods. I never used to be like this and now I cry if I can't open a jar. 

Blergh. this is a queued post so I'll pop some pictures up after it's posted.

This means complete happiness, i feel pretty and clear and healthy and natural and confident and most of all, myself inside and out. I can finally take pictures and like them all, big difference from 7 months ago

Pain in the lips

My lips are soooo sore... even my boyfriends niece (at two years old) pointed out the state of them last night. It's incredibly depressing. My skin is looking amazing. I don't have to have a blood test this month so last night I drank a bottle of wine. I swear the accutane makes my tolerance like zero percent.

seriously though guys, my skin is being amazing, the cetaphil moisturiser is the best thing ever, no more flakey skin, will definitely be keeping that, even once I'm off accutane, perfect for winter skin. I either use vaseline or nivea on my lips and they are fine now. I have a few red marks under my right eye, but other than that my skin is pretty amazing right now :D

Hi Guys, 

So I went back to the dermatologist yesterday and saw the REAL dermatologist, not just my nurse, as lovely as she is. So he asked me where I was up to, took one look at my skin and said I need more, so I'm back on the tablets again :P 60mg, probably for a few more months.

Update

So, I was unable to make my monthly appointment with the derm nurse last month as I had just started my new job and couldn't really take time off work for it. So I called the clinic and the nurse advised me to just take what I had left (assuming I had more than a months worth) and then to come off them completely, as I would have had the 5 months prescribed to me...just with a break in the middle. But the other day I opened what I thought to be my last box of accutane, only to find that my mother, in her obsessive organising state, has put my codiene (for my back pain) into an old accutane box, in order to cut down on the amount of pill boxes in my room. So I called them yesterday and I have to go back next Thursday to see the nurse again.

My lips are crazy sore and my skin is dry, but the Cetaphil is the best thing ever, it's nowhere near as bad as it was. I'm still getting new spots and I have one on my chin that doesnt hurt, it's just killing there...annoying.

Anyway, will let you guys know whats going on after Thursday xx

Day 6

Sore face. Single pimple appeared last night. My jaw aches and I feel sick.

the dry skin has arrived, all around my nose is peeling, its only a little, but still annoying as I know exactly what is to come :(

day 2

literally been taking these for 2 days and the initial break out is already here, teeny painful under the skin pimples. ffs.

I'm not even sure what day this is, it is, however, a fluke. 

So here's a catch up:

I was on roaccutane for about 3 months, got to about 50mg.

Had to come off for two months.

And then I went to Spain (the sun massively cleared my skin up)

And now I'm back on them.

So this is day one back on the tablets, I spoke to the derm about my skin being clear at the moment and he told me about how unless I were to stay somewhere with that level of UVB all the time, it would go away soon, though the roaccutane effects will be permanent.

So that's where I'm up to.

I'm having to have nail surgery, meaning I've been taken off my accutane for two months, and when I start again it looks like I'll be starting from scratch...anyway, I'll restart posting on this blog around mid March
