Saw a couple of fans floating the theory around that this knight character was supposed to be Vex before he became corrupted with Uproar. Personally, I like the concept of him always being what he is now. Imagine your conception and way of staying alive is tied to something negative. That's the angst I want. I'll admit the green highlights, V-shape, and horns with circles on top are very specific design traits. I propose a new theory:

Vex invaded Sackboy's dreams before the intro cutscene. We know that the little sackling wants to have crazy adventures, aspiring to be a hero. His caretaker used to be a knitted knight. A protector of Craftworld. The highest type of hero. And what kind of greeting does Vex give when meeting Sackboy officially?

He's been poking fun at the kid's desires for a long time. Posing as a knitted knight to plant doubt about them in Sackboy's mind. Vex's true form wasn't seen by Sackboy until the intro. Oh, that's devious.
