Hot take: The digital circus should have been marketed/written as a whole world instead. I take it the avatars for every member were based on "they are outsiders/freaks of society", but the adventures they are given hold zero carnival-context. Because juggling and aerobatics would get boring after one episode. Having an open world, with the tent, (maybe that is Caine's headquarters - holding all of his personal code) would add immersion.

Zooble can be found hosting a bar/in their apartment complex, Jax racing cars in some big "manly" academy/secretly dancing in drag shows, Ragatha on a quaint farm, Kinger living in an isolated cottage, and Gangle taking inspiration from a wacky art gallery. Here's something close to my vision for layout:

Everyone gets summoned to the tent (which is towering over the other architecture) for newcomers. That's where Pomni would impact - connecting to these places because they represent her soon to be friends. Caine's insistence on being the ringleader would make more sense because they don't necessarily need him for entertainment or happiness now, leading to questions about the AI's purpose. (Though all of them yearn for real life) Character dynamics tied to the environment is more subtle than outright monologuing about their past.

Pomni's avatar as a jester could work better as she is in-between Caine and the members of the circus, not finding a safe space for herself yet. Subsequently hanging with the former often after visits - talking about what she learned for that day/episode so Caine can 'improve' his craft. Forced adventures still being a thing for extra character development, of course.

i like when people have fun but i cannot process what could be fun in pairing your favourite ensamble cast into nice neat little completely healthy and dramaless romantic pairs that can never be broken ever. nobodys bitchless?? nobodys getting poly with it??? nobodys getting queerplatonic with it????? nobodys getting toxic with it?????? no fwbs???????? its scary.

(BATIM & BATDR) Appreciation Post: Ink Demon

Born as a mistake + locked away < took control of the ink to become the biggest threat < observed the humans trapped in cartoon avatar bodies long enough to vocally communicate < ruler of an entire realm. All while being heavily disabled. That's raw hardcore right there. I love both designs for the context they are given. BATIM's Ink Demon is goopy, unsteady, and just plain angry. Wandering around trying to get accustomed to his powers/authority that goes with it. Growing thoughts as the cognitive functions slowly connect in that mind. Many loops later, here is the evolution: BATDR's version. Vibrating grin broken into a predatory maw. Voice capable of forming complex sentences in a bid to get his human sister (Audrey) to understand her creation. Blindness a little bit better because he knows how to "see" through the ink. Probably memorized the studio layout by now as well. Learning manipulation through his tormentors: Joey Drew (responsible for everything bad ever) and Wilson Arch. Actually, the Ink Demon never lies like they do or treats women as objects either. Could care less about Malice Angel's beauty insecurities and saves Audrey's life. "Pure evil" allegations debunked.

I wish the developers kept the limp in BATDR, honestly. I get it was originally alluding to Joey Drew actually being the Ink Demon, but the stains he left on this creature can't be erased. It also accents the difference between Bendy as a living cartoon vs a creature who was just called that name with no real recollection of the demon whistling on a projector screen. Two separate identifies stuck in the same body. Existienal crisis just waiting to happen. Love him, guys. He needs it.

Congrats? Nothing makes your access needs more important than mine. They’re equally important. Trust me, when go into a public space where I know I’m supposed to be quiet in, I do EVERYTHING in my power to make it so that my vocal tics are calm and won’t bother other people. I manage my disability on my own and do my best to make myself manageable for everyone else. You can at the very least recognize that, and try to manage your own disability without telling me I need to leave. Bring earplugs, bring headphones, bring ear defenders, listen to music, heck, I don’t care. Just don’t yell at me for being too loud when I’m try my hardest to be as silent as possible.

You think jerking my neck and grunting repeatedly doesn’t feel physically painful to me either? If you’re affected by my tics, imagine how I feel.

Also, as a person who is all too aware of the reactions of other people to my tics, I literally bring a couple pairs of earplugs, fidget toys I don’t mind giving away, a printed out pamphlet on Tourette’s, and a personal info card specifically explaining my own tics, that I can give to other people when my tics are noticeable or annoying. You have no idea how much energy it takes for me to just be able to exist in public.
