I'm just a Wookiee Jedi named Roran, here to share Star Wars stuff and connect with other fans. I post Star Wars art and my OCs here as well. I use they/he pronouns.
Bit of a different kinda artwork than usual today lol!! Felt a super heavy urge to make a fun Grakk and Jowa centered mock-up poster inspired by the Disney+ SW posters !! :]
They say that if you climb the highest wroshyr tree in Kyyhrroârrkho Village, you could find the best view of The Origin Tree in all of Kashyyyk. đŽđ«
âHey, Grakk!!â Jowarra announced suddenly, stopping mid-climb to look down at his older brother, the larger wookiee still further below him on their climb up the wroshyr tree, âLast one to the topâs a rotten shi-shok fruit!!â
âWha-?! Hey wait, since whenâd this become a race??â Grakk called back through a laugh.
âSince right now! So you better start moving if you still wanna win, bantha-breath!â Jowarra chuckled playfully as he began moving up again.
When you spend most of your life training to become the villages future Treetalkers, you eventually start to get tired of talking about trees⊠đŽđ
Woohoo!! First post of the new year!! My main goal, going into 2026, is to def make more OC art and to share more Grakk and Jowarra lore that me and my bestie, @roaringjedi_art , came up with! (theyâre my favs rn can you tell? lol!!) So, for this post, I wanted to share a very important moment from their lore :] The day they officially became brothers! The day of their Spirit Sibling Initiation Ceremony !! đđ
After being chosen to be the next Treetalkers of their village by Elder Nagurra, Grakk and Jowarra started to become close. Very close, practically inseperable, even to the point where the two boys started to refer to one another as âbrothersâ. Naturally, the question of if they wanted their spirits to be bonded so that they could become Spirit Siblings came up.
In Wookiee culture, it is common for Wookiees to have, what they call, a "Spirit Sibling", which is someone they're not biologically related to, but have a bond as strong as siblings with. Spirit Siblings are also seen and treated as siblings by their clan and their spirits are believed to be connected. There is a special bonding ceremony they can go through to make their connection even deeper and stronger, and that ceremony is held and performed at the Origin Tree.
Upon hearing this, the answer from both boys, of course, was a âyesâ.

âIt is an honor and a privilege to have Grakk under my apprenticeship. Though, he may not be the easiest student, the Force has chosen him for a reason, so I will trust it. I know that one day he will help bring honor to our village. At least⊠I hope he will.â
Elder Nagurra - Journal Entry 19 BBY
~
Garakkaâahrr, better known as âGrakkâ, was a Wookiee Treetalker apprentice born in the Kyyhrroârrkho village on the planet Kashyyyk. As young cubs, Grakk and his little brother, Jowarra, were both chosen to apprentice under the wise Elder Nagurra, an old Wookiee Treetalker who had spent many years serving the people of his village and would later on become the boysâ teacher, passing down his knowledge and wisdom of Wookiee Shamanism and the Force onto them, so that they may one day take his place together when they come of age.
To many Wookiees, the opportunity to become a Treetalker was upheld as a great honor worth taking seriously. Grakk⊠wasnât one of those Wookiees. Despite being chosen for such an honored position within his clan, Grakk, more often than not, preferred to âdo his own thingâ, which mainly included; goofing off during lessons, cracking terrible jokes, challenging fellow Wookiees to wrestle with him and âborrowingâ the Elders Mylaya to have joyrides with his brother, leading him to be described as; âTotally the coolest guy ever!â and âThe bravest wookiee on Kashyyyk!â. At least, according to Jowarra. Some would say different, but, Grakk tended to focus more on the positives.

âWaitâ Life Day Celebration??â the young Jedi, Gungi, exclaimed. âTONIGHT??â
âWhy, of course, dear,â Yanna, the elder of the village, answered with a warm smile. Although, her gaze didnât meet his. Her eyes were, instead, focused on the vibrant red Life Day robe that sat on top of her lap. She had been working on stitching it up all morning. By the looks of it, it seemed like she was nearly done, too. âYou didnât forget, did you? Oh, I would have thought a cub your age wouldâve been counting down the days since the start of the seasonâŠâ She chuckled lightheartedly.
Gungi furrowed his brows. He opened his mouth, attempting to say something more, but, just as soon as he opened it, he hesitated, closing it again. For a moment, he stood still, wondering if he should even say anything at all. In the silence, Yanna pulled her gaze away from her stitching, shooting a quick glance at the boy, only to be met with something sheâs never seen before on a cubs face during Life Day⊠a face full of concern. Fear.
âGungi?â Came her voice again, making Gungi flinch as the old wookiee looked at him with kind, but concerned eyes. âIs everything alright, dear?â
Gungi swallowed, âOh! Uh⊠y-yeah! Yeah, Iâm alright, Elder, really!â He tried to wave nonchalantly. âIâm sorry, I just⊠yâknow, I didnât get much sleep last night, I was just so excited and-â
âGungi.â Came Yannaâs voice again, âI know that tone⊠youâre not telling me the truth.â She said, making Gungiâs heart skip a beat. Dank farrik, she read him like a holo-book. âPlease, tell me, whatâs REALLY troubling you, dearâŠâ
Gungi was silent for a few more seconds⊠holding his breath as the Elderâs fixed gaze penetrated through him⊠It didnât take long before it finally broke him, as he sighed in defeat.
âWell⊠I-I donât know itâs justâŠ- isâŠâ Gungi hesitated. Elder Yannaâs brows furrowed as she attempted to listen, âIs⊠holding Life Day now really a good ideaâŠ?â Gungi finally asked with a cringe.
âIs⊠celebrating Life Day a good idea?â She repeated, confused. âGungi, where is this coming from?â She asked.
Gungi hesitated with his response, rubbing his hands together, nervously, âItâs justâŠâ He started. âI donât know what ifâŠâ He swallowed, âWhat if The Empire comes back here today?â
âOh, GungiâŠâ Yanna frowned.
âI know! I know we talked about this, b-but we canât just drop our guard, right? What if something DOES happen??â
âGungi, dear, The Empireâs long gone from here, you know that-â
âBut you DONâT know that!â
âGungiâŠâ
âJust because they haveânt come back NOW doesnât mean they wonât come back EVER! Weâre all vulnerable! W-what if they launch an ambush in the middle of the celebration?? What if they try to burn the village down again?? W-what ifâ?!â
âGungi!â Yanna spoke sternly, taking Gungi by the shoulders. Gungi flinched, his breath shaky as he starred back at the Elder, her eyes worried as she stared at the trembling cub.
âBreatheâŠâ She whispered.
Gungi swallowed again as he nodded quickly, closing his eyes, remembering the breathing techniques he had been taught by Elder Yanna and the other wookiees of the village. Good for tranquility and stress, he remembered her saying. So slowly⊠he began breathing in⊠and then out. In⊠and then out. In⊠and then out. In⊠and then⊠out.
As he breathed, Gungi began to feel his nerves settle. The worry, the fearâthough, not all of itâ beginning to leave his body.
âThatâs itâŠâ Came Elder Yannaâs voice again as Gungi opened his eyes. âHow do you feel?â
âU-uhmâŠ.â He swallowed. âA little betterâŠâ
âGoodâŠâ She smiled, taking a seat in her wooden chair once again. âCome. SitâŠâ She said, gesturing with a hand. Gungi looked around⊠there wasnât any real place for him to sit, really, so⊠he instead opted to sit on the floor, crossing his legs in front of the Elder.
âNow, Gungi⊠Do you remember what we talked about in our sessions?â Started Yanna.
âYes, ElderâŠâ
âAnd, what did we discuss?â
âThat⊠The Empire wonât come back to the village.â
âThatâs rightâŠâ Yanna nodded.
âBut⊠Elder, are⊠youâre sureâŠ?â Gungi asked again, hesitantly. âI know you keep telling me you are but I-I donât know⊠I⊠I justââ He sighed wearily. âHow can I be sure that youâre right?â
Yanna sighed sadly. She honestly couldnât blame the poor boy for feeling such paranoia. Especially considering what heâs been through at such a young age. Heâs lost so much and has been through so much hell, that he was just so afraid of losing it all and falling back in. Into a life where he was constantly on the run, on-edge and fighting just to survive. Just to exist. But she wasnât going to let that happen to him again. Never again.
âGungiâŠâ Yanna spoke, taking the boys hands. âThe truth is⊠I, myself, donât even know if Iâm rightâŠâ She started, making Gungi look up at her in surprise. âNobody really knows. Itâs like you said; The Empire could come back any day now; days, weeks, months⊠maybe years. But⊠the way I see it, we can choose to let our fears of them control us, or we keep living. For ourselves. For the ones we love. And for the ones we lostâŠâ She said, squeezing his hands gently. âAnd if the day ever comes where they come back⊠we fight. Fight like hell. But, today, I can say this; Today⊠the Empire isnât coming back. The scouts have reported no Imperial activity outside the village. Thereâs no troops, no trandoshans, no weapons, no fires, no ambush planned at all⊠itâs just as peaceful as the day when our village claimed victory over them the first time. Weâre safe.â
Gungi was silent as he looked back down at Yannaâs hands, holding his.
âBut enough about the Empire. Today, they mean nothing. Today⊠is a day of peace, life, and harmony, and rest⊠And I think we all deserve that today⊠wouldnât you agree?â
Gungi nodded along as Yanna spoke⊠letting her words sink in. Perhaps she was right. No. She WAS right. 100%. The Empire can try like hell to take everything from them. Their land, their people. But he was going to keep fighting. Keep living. For himself, for the village and for everyone he lost. And thereâs not a damn thing they can do about it. Besides⊠at least for today, he did earn the right to relax. To be a kid for once.
âNowâŠâ Yanna said, pulling her hands away from Gungi, picking up a finished Life Day robe from her lap. âI believe we have a ceremony to attend toâŠâ She smiled, handing it over to Gungi. His eyes lit up like stars seeing it. It was just his size, too.
âWell, go on, try it on.â Yanna chuckled.
âYes, Elder!â Gungi beamed, âThank you, Elder!â He said, giving a quick hug to the old wookiee, before darting away to try on his new robe for this years Life Day celebration.
â[Aw câmon, Jowa, how are you NOT having fun right now??]â
