Is that ROB IOANE? Wow, they do look a lot like QUINTESSA SWINDELL. I hear THEY are a NINETEEN year old SOPHOMORE who are studying POLITICS at Luxor University. Word is they are a REGULAR student who is AGAINST The Unhinged. You should watch out because they can be SANCTIMONIOUS and QUIXOTIC, but on the bright side they can also be HUMANITARIANÂ and SPONTANEOUS. Ultimately, youâll get to see it all for yourself.
THE ESSENTIALS/TL;DR
Rob Ioane is a sophomore at Luxor Academy, studying Politics and Environmental Studies. Having decided to go by they/them pronouns at a fairly young age, Rob is a non-binary activist, determined to better the world as they reject conventional values and instead focus their life on sustainability and activism. Personality wise, they are passionate, and while they are an anti-nihilist, they still hold themselves - and everyone else - to an extremely black and white moral code. That does not stop them from being spontaneous though, and giving in to flights of impulsivity and exploration. Rob is unpredictable, governed only by their own moral code and intuition, so no one is ever quite sure what theyâre going to get. Including themself.Â

Personality wise, Rob is extremely passionate. They often come off sanctimonious and condescending, but they consider it part of the cause of activism to educate people around them, even if those people are resistant. They are definitely nihilistic, but rather than giving into despair,  they try to give themselves meaning and a purpose, which is obviously their activism for sustainability, environment, and human rightâs. They ultimately believe in the strength and resilience of humankind, so they are an idealist at the end of the day. That being said, they will never hesitate to get into a debate with people just because they love debating (#aquarius), and will often play the contrarian, though they lack the self-control to not end up pissed off when getting into these arguments.Â
They do tend to view people and morals as fairly black and white. While it may not seem obvious to others, they certainly have a strict set of morals they follow. They believe in listening to in our own intuition more than believing in a higher power, and so they believe in crystals, in astrology, in tarot, and believe we are at our best when we are sharing our energy. Everything is about energy for them - itâs all about the vibes. When someone is giving Rob bad vibes, typically in a way that is disrespectful, whether that be implying someone doesnât deserve equal rights, showing ignorance, or treating the planet like shit, they will not hesitate to lecture. They do not care about annoying people or coming off preachy - the purpose they have given themselves is to educate others, so they will always take the opportunity to go off on a sermon. When they have decided someone has the wrong morals, or had bad vibes, or dark energy, thatâs pretty much it for them. They will hold a grudge, and they do not forgive-and-forget
Rob can also be quite spontaneous. While they are serious and ambitious, they also have a side of them that cannot be controlled or told what to do - other than by their own moral code. They love to go on adventures, they love to be outdoors, and they rarely like to be still. Both mentally and physically. They believe in exploration - in every sense of the word. They are outgoing, and spontaneous, and fun, and a little bit wild, within reason. If youâre someone they like, this side will not fail to come out, and whoever it is will inevitably end up getting pulled along in their impulsive schemes for fun.Â

BIOGRAPHY
Rob was born to a young single mother in Portland, Oregon. They lived in Portland for most of Robâs childhood, including while Soraya was seriously dating another man, and even had his child, giving Rob a half-sister to grow up with, along with Dale. Rob and Dale, despite only being cousins, were extremely close, and so when they split up, Soraya moving the family back to her hometown of Newport, the two siblings leaned on each other for support, which became their norm through their teen years.Â
However, determined to make sure her children stayed well adjusted, Soraya also put them both in therapy - Rob had always been prone to outbursts, especially when they got frustrated, and such big changes could have a detrimental affect, which Soraya was trying to avoid. Rob was around fourteen when they realized, through the help of a year or two of therapy that they didnât believe in the societal concept of gender, and they especially didnât identify with either gender, recognizing that they were non-binary and deciding to go by they/them pronouns.
They did struggle with a lot of depression during this time, feeling like something was wrong with them, and with the help of their therapist, they were coaxed into finding something they were passionate about (this is also when their nihilism started to develop, tbh). This led them down the path of research about the planet being unlivable and everyone being doomed with the extinction of the human race. While they obviously didnât help their depression, knowing that the planet was probably going to blow up anytime, it did eventually lead them into more research and sparked their interest in environmentalism. Their (somewhat nihilist) view point is that thereâs no point in having other goals or dreams because without finding a remedy to climate change, it is all essentially pointless.
While they were exploring who they were, they also realized that they are pansexual, which goes without saying if you donât believe in gender. However, they donât believe in enforcing labels, so they personally do not label their sexuality, and just believe in loving who they love. This, of course, is quite a progressive view, so Rob did face bullying and bigotry growing up. Along with environmentalism and sustainability, facing these challenges as a human also helped spark their strong passion for human rights, and activism as a whole, which led them to develop a huge part of who they are today, as a young adult. Rob does believe the best in people, to the point of being overly idealistic. While they have seen the dark side of humans and is all too aware of what they are doing to the planet and society we are apart of, they also believe that people can be reformed. That they can learn and do better, and as such, Rob themself is always trying to do better. They are determined to dedicate their life to helping people improve themselves and leave a better place behind them.Â
FUN FACTS
they do still present feminine, and wear make-up/jewelry/dresses/etc, bc being masc/androgynous isnât what being non-binary is about, but will def dress masc from time to time
things they consider âwrongâ: using straws, using plastic, consuming anything made from palm oil, supporting amazon, private jets, fast fashion, burning candles, dairy, any sort of meat (you might get a pass if itâs free range or whatever)
yes, that meansâŠ.theyâre vegan, and yes, they do bring it up all the time
refuses to read books by cis hetero white men (as they should, go off)
they are definitely, like, an eccentric hippie, but if thatâs something you vibe with, theyâll like you. itâs all about the vibes, really.

âEither you pretend Iâm not doing anything or you help,â Libby said without any pleasantries or introduction as she heard footsteps behind and turned from her position attempting to dismount the trophy cabinet from the wall. âOr you can turn your back and walk away and pretend you saw nothing. Your choice.â
-
âDonât get me wrong...â Rob started as they met Libbyâs eyes as the girl turned around. âIâm all for making a statement, protests, whatever but....I feel like there are better things you could steal if that was your goal then a random trophy no one even notices most of the time theyâre walking down this hallway.âÂ
âHey,â she said it so softly it was practically an exhale rather than a statement, finding it hard to look up and meet Robâs eyes even as Ruby stood in the doorway of their room, pausing before nodding. âSure. I can come in,â she walked in, looking around awkwardly, unsure of the most inoffensive place to turn her eyes so as to show absolutely no disrespect. âI just wanted to say thanks,â she voiced, finally looking up at them. âFor defending me. At New Years. And Iâm sorry you got shit on too. Really sorry.â
-
Robâs eyebrows crawled up on their forehead, looking at Ruby for a moment, their expression remaining unguarded as the girl entered her room. âDid you come here because you didnât want to come in?â Rob asked at her apparent hesitation, shutting the door behind Ruby regardless, crossing their arms in front of their chest as they leaned against their door. They tilted their head to one side, considering Ruby for a moment. âYou donât have thank me,â Rob said immediately, their eyebrows furrowing together into a deep crease on their forehead. âItâs what anyone would - or should - do. And besides. Who cares how you got your scholarship? You clearly work your ass off to keep it, and thatâs what is important,â Rob continued, not quite addressing the topic of their own secret being revealed.Â
who: @lucent-lucaâ

where: Cafe on South African campus
If there was someone Rob had been most trying to avoid since New Yearâs....Luca definitely was up there. Not that they didnât like them, all things considered with their entirely different philosophies of life, but...they knew their smug attitude would be almost worse than the disdain and judgement of the majority of their classmates. Rob had inadvertently proved his points, the very things they had been doing their best to argue against ever since the two had met. Call it over-compensating. So when they peeked up from their table in the corner of the cafe to see him, a slight grimace crossed their face, ducking their head back down to resume their work, coffee - with oat milk obviously - in front of them. No such luck though - they heard Luca approaching, letting out a soft sigh before they glanced up at them in defeat. âYes?â Rob said, tilting their head to one side.Â
who: @richwithlxveââ
where: somewhere outside on campus
when: Saturday, February 5th, mid-morning
In what may be surprising to many, Rob actually sorta hated volunteering and community service. While the concept of it was something they could get behind, they found in practice, it was usually unproductive and performative, not to mention the ease with which people loved to warp it into proof of how great they were, only to fully embody the role of a white savior - cue the eye rolls. But they did it anyways, if only to encourage otherâs to do it. There was a benefit from it, Rob just....had their sights set a little higher. On actually making change, which meant fundamentally working more on changing society than just volunteering on Luxorâs campus, various âenvironmentalâ things like doing clean-up, working in the community garden, or planting trees.Â
It was these thoughts that were going through their head as they were finishing up their volunteer shift that weekend with a heavy sigh. âHow much do you want to be the school only even hosts this shit because they get some sort of tax write off?â Rob muttered under their breath to the person next to them, all together annoyed by the group of people who had shown up that morning.Â
who: @rubymensahâ
where: robâs room
when: february 2ndÂ
Rob was never the most of social people - they tended to focus on their schoolwork, though they had no issue being social. They had their friends, they had people they hung out with, they had circles of friends, but at the end of the day, Rob was an introvert. That had really only increased since the New Yearâs party, Rob wanting to make sure their schoolwork was utterly impeccable - they were going to have to find some way to get through college, after all, now that that conversation with Paul was pending, Rob somewhat surprised that he hadnât already found out and called them. Or maybe he had dismissed it, thanks to the paternity test. But regardless, where they previously may have been out and studying in the library - god, they loved the library on the South Africa campus - or the study hall, or even the cafe....they had been secluding themselves in their room more often. So a knock at the door wasnât that unexpected, most people who had any desire or need to seek them out aware that this was where they were spending most of their time.Â
They got off their couch, going to open up the door - they werenât expecting anyone, but they werenât surprised by the knock. Seeing Ruby on the other side was somewhat of a surprise though. In the aftermath of the New Yearâs party, Rob had almost forgotten about the other people who had been casualties of the Unhingedâs vendetta, their attempted defense of Ruby popping back into their brain as they looked at her standing at their door, something Rob had completely disregarded as they dealt with their own secret. âHey,â Rob said, immediately stepping aside to make room for Ruby to enter. âYou want to come in?âÂ
âDo you need something?â Viktor asks, sending a glance over their shoulder at the person whose eyes had been lingering on them for awhile. They were used to being stared at on stage or in the classroom but outside of school, it bothered them more than theyâd let on. Perhaps it was because staring had always triggered bullying when they were younger or maybe there was another reason that they didnât wanted to think about at the moment.Â
All they wanted to do was finish this essay and go home to a warm shower and consume enough tea to last them an entire year.Â
@luxorstartersâ
âNo,â Rob said as they dropped down in the seat across from Viktor, letting out a sigh. âYou almost done here? We have to watch Becoming Cousteau for one of my environmental studies classes, and even though I - obviously - have already seen it, Iâm always down for a re-watch, so I thought we could do some sort of movie night. Maybe an environmental documentary theme? Or is that too specific?â Rob asked, the question more to themselves than to Viktor, a furrow appearing between their eyebrows. âMaybe just documentaries. Hmm...â their voice trailed off for a minute before they re-focused on Viktor, raising up an eyebrow. âYou in?â
WHO: @rob-ioaneâââââ
ââWHEN: January 1st, 2022
WHERE: The NB Common Room
It seemed that Jackson had found his way to the non-binary common room before he really had the chance to help himself. It had only been a couple of months since Jackson had learned about the apparent affair his uncle had been hiding, and while one would think that such news would trouble him as much as it had TK, Jackson was far enough away from the Morrows to simply feel the excitement of accepting Rob as his alleged long-lost cousin. Having no real connection to family outside of Isaac, his grandparents and now, TK. So, with Isaac having left Luxor at the end of the previous school year, and with both Calliope and Haddie gone, having TK arrive and bringing with him the discovery that Jackson hadnât been as alone at school as he was beginning to feel, it hadnât taken long for him to find himself clinging to Rob. He had only took a few paces into the common area before spotting them, and just as he did, he slowed, suddenly feeling a mixture of tensity and awkwardness with the confrontation he was seemingly so ready to have only a few moments before. However, his moment to greet them, to find something to say in response to the reveal that had taken place at the party, was met with his own stifling silence when he simply peered at them somewhat timidly from across the room instead.
Rob hadnât allowed the reveal to send them cowering in their room - while they may have been less social than usual, they made sure they werenât hiding, knowing that would be an admission of guilt. And, oh, did Rob feel guilty. But they couldnât exactly just admit to that, knowing that people wouldnât wait to hear the whole story after the admission of guilt, but rather run with it. Not that the whole story made it all that much better. But Rob hoped it redeemed themselves at least somewhat. They were sitting in the common room at the moment, lips pursed as they distantly stared out the window, lost in thought like they had spent so much time since New Yearâs, assignment forgotten in front of them. The sound of the door opening and closing registered somewhere in the back of their mind, but it was the feeling of eyes on them that ended up getting their head to turn finally, blinking back into focus to see Jackson peering at them.
Jackson was a causality they hadnât expected - while they had been distantly aware of TKâs cousins, they had always seemed distant enough that it didnât register as a concern. For all the lecturing Rob did about people not thinking about others, they had been able to block out the reality of the rest of the extended Kennedy family a but too well. With TK, Rob had been able to put distance, their guilt and the secret looming in between their friendship, even if TK was unaware of them. With Jackson, those boundaries had slipped slightly, without Rob ever really realizing it, until Jackson hovered in the doorway, staring at them with wary hesitation, Robâs lips parting in a quiet sigh as they met his eyes, blinking downwards once before their gaze returned, steady this time. âYeah,â Rob said, the word a question and an answer, apology and yet an approval for Jackson to be upset all in one, their face staying neutral as they spoke, not wanting to reveal anything until they got a better gauge of his mood. âYeeaaah,â they repeated, dragging the word out this time.Â
rob and noor both are in desperate need of some threads, so if youâre interested in either of them, like this and iâll come to you to do some plotting/closed starter businessssssssss.Â
the previous night was still coming in waves of flashbacks. constantly evolving and ever changing as itâd come clearer into view. black shades covered her eyes from even the glints of light that casted itself over the gardens. why had she returned to the scene of her crime? maybe sheâd tried to pass it off as curiosity but sheâd known her tendencies to go sniffing around places she hadnât belonged that she promised would be kept on hold had been plaguing her since the night the garbled voice came over the intercom. heels clicked along the concrete before the small of sage stung her nostrils, pulling her thoughts from promises passed.Â
moving forward, she stepped closer to rob, looking over the set up, â â it does?â ophelia asks, her voice quiet to keep the pounding headache at bay, a small moan of disapproval as she took off the sunglasses,. âi mean â,â ophelia looked around the campus gardens. âi-i shouldnât, really â I mean, I wouldnât want to interrupt â,â her voice stopped in their tracks before she let the glasses slip off her face. right, too late for that. âyou know what? fuck it. i need all the positive karmic energy i can get while i wait for some test results.â too much? probably, but at this point with the absolute SHITSHOW that decided to commence during during new years eve, or rather the one she woke up to new years morning, she couldnât give the slightest shit.
-
Rob offered a small smile, absentminded, as lost as they were in their thoughts, before they shrugged up their shoulders. âIt does. And I extended the invitation - that automatically means youâre not interrupting. Iâm not one of those people to make an offer I donât really mean, so...â their voice trailed off, raising up an eyebrow about the comment regarding test results, not bothering to ask. Some things were better left as personal business. âI think we all need some positive karmic energy. Or, well, at least I do. Maybe Iâm just generalizing to make myself feel better.âÂ
âAhhh,â Jack nodded knowledgeably. âWoo woo. My specialist topic,â he agreed, sitting down anyway, the opportunity to annoy just too good to resist. âWhat avenues of pointless crap will we be exploring today? Voodoo dolls? Maybe summon Satan?â
-
âI could make a joke about my spell for summoning Satan already having worked, since youâre here, but thatâs a bit of low hanging fruit,â Rob replied without much animosity in their tone, blinking up toward Jack with a tip of their head. âIf anyone on campus could use a good release ritual, I feel like youâre one of them,â they added after a moment, returning to their scribbling without much further attention paid to Jack. âI donât believe in organized religion, though, so no. No satan.âÂ
who: @luxorstartersâ
where: campus gardens
when: january 2nd, at night
Rob had decided to return to the scene of the crime, persay, figuring there was no better place to do the new moon ritual they had prepared. It was the day after a new year, and as much as Rob thought that concept was bullshit, they figured that doing a ritual wouldnât hurt - and the events of the party and the murmurs of the news story had only certified that for them. So they had headed to the gardens, finding a quiet area with their white sage, white candle, journal, glass of water and an empty jar, the things that the two rituals that they were planning would require. One for releasing, and one for forgiveness.Â
As they settled into their spot, scribbling away in their journal as the rituals required, they heard footsteps, Rob looking up to see who it was. âIt makes perfect karmic sense that all that happened the day before the new moon. Perfect time to leave it all behind us,â they said lightly, turning back to their page. âYouâre welcome to join, if youâd like.âÂ
A crackle of the loudspeaker interrupted the reveling room while they were waiting for the countdown to the New Year. It took the crowd a few moments to notice the static screech over the blare of the dance music, though an eerie quiet quickly spread over the room. âDid you miss us?â a disdainful voice sneered. âSurely, you didnât think the rapidly approaching new year would bring you any freedom, did you? Youâre really naive enough to ignore our warnings? Weâve already told you, time and time again that you cannot trust each other. Youâve been given plenty of chances to repent for your ways. Youâve seen what happens to those who oppose us, and yet you still fight our message. But what else could you expect from a group of know-it-all degenerates that think the world owes them something,â the haughty voice spewed and let out a cough of laughter.
âDid you think your private lives were suddenly safe just because the Crusade got caught? You all thought youâd get away with the nasty things youâre guilty of. Â Donât you remember what we told you idiots? We are The Uprising. We will not tolerate the rampant corruption on campus for any longer,â the arrogant voice boomed over the hedges of the garden, confirming the looming concern of many students. It was difficult to tell if the Unhinged truly held productive intentions, but most of the crowd assumed this was just another righteous group turned sour.
"Corruption such as our first contestantâŠâ the voice over the loudspeaker paused, as if basking in the anticipation, glee coating the words as they began revealing the deepest, darkest secrets of the students who hadnât supported them. âRUBY MENSAH! Sheâs one of Luxorâs upstanding students; she even managed to slither her way into the National Honorâs Society. Ruby had most of us thinking sheâd actually earned her academic scholarship, when in reality her senior year grades were so crappy she needed a family friend to call in a favor so she could be here. And it worked, didnât it, Ruby? Because Luxor doesnât care about talent or skill or worth⊠So long as you got the money or you have the connections, the Luxor administration will look the other way."Â
TW ADDICTION, TW DRUG USEÂ âThe second lucky contestant is RICHARD SMITH!â The announcement continued on as the students were frozen in horror, the voice on the loudspeaker only growing more exuberant. "He thought Luxorâs shiny prestige could distract away from his reliance on sleeping pills. Who can blame him? Itâs not like any of the staff here could give a fuck that heâs addicted to popping pills."Â
âThird up isâŠ..ROB IOANE! Always out to save the world, right the wrongs of the rich and save the turtles or whatever the fuck else they are always going on about. Weâre all just counting down the days âtil they finally get arrested for all that whining and protesting. But for one who is always talking about doing the right thing, donât you find it hypocritical how they ended up paying for Luxor? Blackmailing someone to pay for tuition isnât entirely out of the wheelhouse of people around here, but doing so with a fake paternity test? Now that takes some balls. Did your real dad not want you, Rob? Or did you just choose your âdadâ because he could afford this place?â The member of the Unhinged yelled over the loudspeaker, unable to contain their rage, despite the revenge they were inflicting.Â
TW PROSTITUTIONÂ âAnd finally. Last but not least. CAREW DâMELLO.â As they announced the final student, their tone grew cold and menacing, returning to the haughty composure of how this had started. âHe lies to his own parents about having a scholarship when he actually pays for his tuition by selling stolen cars, at least when heâs not illegally racing them. Itâs been said that he isnât above selling himself either. Guess the Luxor administration arenât the only ones without any standards.â
âOpen your eyes, youâre all fucking money bags to them. Luxor is a trap. Itâs all a facade to draw people in, and once youâre here, the school doesnât give a shit about you, so long as they get your tuition. You will continue to be preyed on, until we burn this place to the fucking ground,â the voice continued, the threatening words coming out in a growl. âWe will not be ignored, Elephants. Thereâs plenty more to come for you losers. Soon enough, youâll all pay the price for choosing the wrong side,â the voice spat. The static of the intercom halted, and the voice dissipated into the gentle winds of the night.
