Most of Nate’s personality is negative. Even what could be a positive trait (such as competitiveness, honesty, sensitivity, intensity....) he tends to turn it up to 1000 until it’s damaging. But honestly, most of it just negative to start with. He’s very withdrawn and broody, spends most of his time and interactions just glowering at people, and yet has an extremely short fuse, so will go from no reaction to swinging in the blink of an eye. he basically throws tantrums like a toddler, albeit a very large, 6′5″ toddler who actually knows how to fight.
However, he is extremely loyal if he decides someone is worth it - spoiler alert, most people aren’t - he will be there for them in the best way Nate knows how. Still tactless, but like, he tries his best. Basically his way of showing emotional support is being like so, uh, you wanna smoke a joint? Because at the end of the day, Nate is not very smart. Emotionally, or in a book smart sense. Why he’s doing engineering, I have no idea - someone probably told him too and he just said sure it’s not like I have any hopes or dreams of my own. He can come off a bit of himbo, just with his attempts to be charming and flirt with women (when he wants to). Plus he’s hot. And he knows it. And isn’t afraid to use it.
When it comes to women (ladies, please run), Nate likes to be pursued. He hates having to make the first move - probably due to of feeling like he isn’t worth it, more on that below - and he will flirt, charm, seduce, but when it actually comes down to it, he wants the other person to make that final leap. Some sort of validation or something. He likes when girls pay attention to him, and tries to coax it out of them. However, he also has a lot of resentment towards his mother for chasing after his father and bending over backwards to try to make things work, so he also loses interest as soon as a girl is too interested. And when he loses interest, he won’t say anything, he’ll just ghost or cheat. The only kind of confrontation Natey boi is good at is one that involves his fists.
Nate’s very dry, prone to swearing (he did grow up in Australia), and his sense of humor is very deadpan. If you actually talk to him, you realize there’s a lot of sarcasm in his cynicism, put the issue is that he’s extremely withdrawn from most people, and honestly doesn’t even see the point in having conversations with them. He also uses this to hide a lot of his fundamental insecurities - he genuinely feels like he’s not going to amount to much, mostly because he’s been made to feel that way. He acts brash and confident, but he really does struggle with feeling like he’s worth anything. It’s part of why he gets so over-competitive, because he wants to prove he’s good at something.

BIOGRAPHY
Nathaniel Shaw is the 3rd of four children to a very unhappy couple. Ella was twenty, and Luke, her very new Australian boyfriend - a deadbeat musician who wasted any money he got on drugs and alcohol - was twenty-seven, when they got pregnant the first time, and spent the next five years popping out four children. Ella was from Sag Harbor (aka the Hamptons), and she planned on raising her children there, but when Nate was three years old (Finnegan, the youngest, was two), Luke decided to go back to Australia, not giving many fucks if Ella and his children came with them. Ella, having felt like the last seven years of her life would be a waste if she let him walk away, despite their tumultuous, on and off again relationship, picked up the four kids, moved them to Melbourne with their father, and married him. Even married, they broke up a lot, Luke going off and disappearing for months at a time. Ella was inattentive, cold, and distant to her children, even though it never managed to extend to their asshole of a father. All of her emotional output was in that relationship, and her four Shaw siblings ended up holding themselves together to raise each other.
When Nate was thirteen, after ten years in Australian, Ella decided she had enough, moved back to Sag Harbor, and immediately began the process to divorce Luke. The sibling’s were all shocked, a move around the world confusing enough when you’re a toddler, but nearly impossible for teenagers. Especially for lower class teenagers moving into a place like Sag Harbor, where people - the people who actually lived there - were comparable to them, but there were mansions worth millions of dollars, celebrities, and whole shit ton of wealth that came there to vacation. Nate took the move the hardest, and he started getting into a lot of fights while refusing to adjust. Nate and Liam had always had a rough relationship, and brawled as siblings do, though they tended to get more violent - egged on by their father, who could contribute little, but could contribute how to throw a punch.
After a few months, one of his fights ended up constituting as assault. It was bad enough, and the other kid had no chance to get any fighting back, so Nate ended up in juvie. He had no idea what he was going to do - he knew his mother couldn’t afford to pay for a lawyer, and he pretty much resigned himself to staying in there for however long he got sentenced for. Luckily, the charges were dropped, which would make you think would scare him straight - perhaps get him to stop fighting, but no such luck. Instead, all through high school, Nate had a bit of a reputation. He was a stellar athlete, particularly in swimming, but even more than that, he was spectacular at kicking someone’s ass.
Unfortunately for Nate, he ended up rubbing shoulders with a lot of rich, trust fund brats. When they were in the Hamptons for the summer, or sneaking out there during various other vacations to party with no supervision, Nate (and often his siblings) would be invited along. And for the first couple years of high school, he was fine with it. But as he got older, as he got more aware of the opportunities they would always be presented that he would never even get a chance to sniff at, he grew resentful, he grew bitter, and he grew to hate them. Enough so that even though he had been dating one of them - Parker, a senator’s daughter - for over a year, he had no qualms about ghosting all of them at the beginning of his senior year, bitterness coating his every thought and opinion towards the rich kids he had previously tolerated. His partying may have gotten more under control - slightly, just due to the lack of access - his fighting got worse. There were multiple times where he was almost caught, almost in serious trouble, but everyone managed to cut him a break. They felt for the Shaw kids, especially Nate, with his talent and yet no parent to support him. So his teachers and even a cop or two, cut the kid a break, knowing that so long as he got through this last year of high school with his nose relatively clean, he’d be able to get out of town with a scholarship.
And he did end up getting a scholarship. He got a full ride to Luxor for his athletic talents, and even though it wasn’t the type of place he wanted to be, knowing the crowd of students would be much like the ones he grew up seeing descend on the Hamptons every summer, he went anyways. He had no other choice - it’s not like he could pay for college on his own.

Kai was born surrounded by opportunity. His father William worked hard to build an empire while each of his kids were growing up investing in hotels across the UK until eventually it grew to the states, wanting to give them the chance to pursue anything they wanted. Elise put a lot of time into her cafe, providing breakfast and lunch specials crafted by her own mind until she was a household name.
With the amount of testosterone in the Harrington house it came as no surprise that Kai and his elder brother Erik often butted heads. Some fights even escalated physically when Erik made moves on one of Kai’s girlfriends when he went to the bathroom. Once she was gone from the residence it took both William and their younger brother to separate the two, though not before Kai broke Erik’s nose.
Constant business trips provided Kai with an opportunity to study in America, transferring over his second year of high school to be part of the Luxor Student body and take advantage of the possibility to live on campus. Her parents covered the trip in full, even purchasing the man his own vehicle once he became of age.
Kai was immediately drawn to sports, excelling through many until he finally decided on two that he needed to be part of his life. He landed himself the captain ship of the lacrosse team and a notable spot in american soccer.

He loves the thrill he got with fighting, the adrenaline constantly pumping through his veins as he acted as a hero. When it came time to pick a major he knew his father would frown upon something that wasn’t practical, putting his closeted childhood dreams of being an actor on the back burner. He reflected back on that feeling he couldn’t get enough of and decided that becoming a doctor would be the next best thing. Looking at him you wouldn’t think he’d be able to pass the classes, the facade he puts on strictly deterring anyone from thinking he was able to make it, but that alone made him love the career even more.

a few things to know about our dear friend kim. first, it’s not kimaya, its kim. kimaya is for her mother’s particular use. and that use is usually when she’s irritated beyond all measure.
secondly, she’s stubborn. she’s abrasive, she’s snarky and she’s cunning. she has lived in a world that revolved around the survival of the fittest and that survival depending on your ability to outwit your opponent. (truthfully, i’d love to watch her play survivor, but let’s be real--kim would not touch an island without a working toilet)
kim does not have a good relationship with her immediate family. her mother is much too pushy and manipulative in her own right, forcing kim to do all the things that elevated the ganguli name--and nothing that elevated her own self worth or happiness. her father was happier to live in the background of her life, a revolving bank and nothing more. it might sound crude but he preferred it this way. he wanted sons--instead he got two daughters. a disappointment but one he could whisk away well enough.
the only person kim was ever truly close with was her grandmother--a sassy, spunky, intelligent woman who had spent her days finding the right balance between aristocracy and freedom. she could act like the perfect lady during the day but when the moment provided, she could easily also be found diving into dante or learning to shoot. she was everything kim ever wanted to be.
it was her grandmother that led her to the realization that she wanted to be a doctor. there was something that fascinated her about the complexity of the human body and all the ways the body can be healed--and also the ways it could not be. the structure of science and the magic of living intertwined themselves effortlessly in her eyes and to practice medicine would be to hone that power.
but--her mother would never allow it. unlike her grandmother, her mother was an all or nothing kind of woman. and she was all in for aristocracy. of course a lady reads but never something as boring or informative as a medical manual. and a lady certainly never gets her hands messy. no no, medical studies would not be for kim.

so kim went off to college--luxor college. it was the only acceptable place for kim to go and there was a bit of fight lost from her from her grandmother’s passing. she choose english, specifically linguistics, as she felt it was far enough away from any sort of medical field she could avoid her mother’s brash remarks and the painful memory of her grandmother. but linguistics offered her structure, something she had always relished in.

emiliano was the prime image of a worthy heir, and enzo devoted much of his attention to turning his eldest son into a carbon copy of himself. however, as a young boy, marcello proved to simply function differently than other children around his age. he was an inquisitive and sensitive child, and much of his curiosity was stifled or plainly ignored. giorgia de rosa was an indifferent woman, and despite her love for her children, she simply could not provide for them in a nurturing or compassionate way. she took her own mother’s approach to raising her children; the child-rearing was left to the help but the spoiling and respect was hers alone. although, even giorgia noticed marcello’s absurd refusal to eat crunchy things and his tendency to be disoriented by sound. yet, it would be impossible for enzo to accept his son’s brain functioning was abnormal. a major source of marcello’s conflict with his parents would stem from their inability to understand his needs, and his own lack of communicative skills or self awareness to address it with them.
when his sister benedetta was born, marcello was only three, but he had an instant fascination with her. he took on the role of her doting older brother, one that emiliano struggled to obtain. growing up, the two brothers were set up to engage in a bitter rivalry. emiliano was adored and thrived in the upper hand he had over marcello, constantly reminding his little brother of his shortcomings and poor standing with their father. much of this frustration translated to anger for marcello, and he quickly came to terms with his fists being the only real means of control he had. yet, emiliano was wider set and stronger than the lanky kid with a staring problem. the boys got into altercations frequently, though this mostly included emiliano pummeling marcello until the younger boy stopped swinging. it wasn’t until the boys began to hit middle school that marcello outgrew emiliano in height and began putting up somewhat of a fight. benedetta, the gentle and frequently ill youngest child of the de rosa family, was often left to fend for herself or break up the two boys. she never seemed to mind her role as mediator, and she was a large part of what kept marcello grounded before he was forced to leave her.
around the age of nine, marcello begun to sneak out from his family’s mansion on the hillside overlooking the spanish coast. in the large corridors of a house with a million rooms, it was easy for the young boy to slip by unnoticed while his other siblings were being attended to. after a few of his lone visits to the beach and the forbidden part of town, marcello encountered a group of neighborhood boys. apparently, they all had the reputation for being ruffians, yet they were quick to find amusement in the boy’s odd vernacular and cluelessness. it was during this time that marcello had grown close to @lucent-luca , eventually coming to see the other boy as a brother along with a mentor. knowing of the risk he was taking in disobeying his father, marcello kept his identity a secret. he pretended to one of the lower class kids, adorning himself in his gruff, practice clothing and causing trouble with the rest of the young crew. the group of boys quickly became his lifeline, something he could escape to when the pressures of his parents’ expectations overwhelmed him. however, marcello’s own reputation as a delinquent grew, along with his tendencies to exchange fists with other kids in his town and at school.

Noor’s personality is pure chaos. She is definitely a self-absorbed snob, but she also can extremely empathetic. While she doesn’t really know how to handle or show emotion, she does often want to show people she empathizes, and her way of doing that is throwing money or gifts at them - after all, that’s what makes her feel better. She can be extremely condescending, though she often doesn’t realize it - she holds herself to high standards, and essentially applies them to everyone around her. She doesn’t understand people not sharing her ambition, and her disdain for that often rubs off on how she views them in general, even if otherwise she has no issues with them.
When she cares for you, she cares for you. She is extremely bad at expressing it, so like said above, she does tend to throw money at those people - though she does that with everyone, not just those she really cares for. She will turn into a sugar mama for someone she cares about with no prompting, and treat them to everything possible. If there’s one thing Noor hates that isn’t just focused on herself, it’s seeing the people she cares for go without - even if it’s without some ridiculous designer handbag they only ever said they thought was pretty. She can be almost alarmingly earnest underneath her cool exterior, mostly because she doesn’t really know how to express she cares for someone when it doesn’t involve just spending all her money on them.
She is also extremely charming, to the point where it veers into pure manipulation. Noor is spoiled, and wants what she wants, expecting to get it, so she will not hesitate to lie if that’s what it takes to accomplish it. She really wants to be worshipped, so she presents what she has to to someone, disguising her negative traits if necessary, so they adore her in the way that she wants them to. Even if she doesn’t particularly like someone, she still wants them to like her.
Noor, as is fitting for someone who wants to be the center of attention, also wants to be worshipped. That goes for people she likes, and those she does not. In relationships, she expects her partner to worship her completely, and she often toys with them until they do - at the expense of the other’s mental state, for sure. She can be a bit of a sloot (in a good way) and definitely will make out with anyone (plus go further...), just because she loves the attention and adoration that comes with it. She definitely looks for validation in attention from other people.
Most importantly, though, Noor is all about aestheticsm. She does things for the ‘gram - she does things for how they look. She is always down for a good time, but not if she’s alone in a room with other people. She wants to be out having a good time where everyone can see it and be jealous. Saengdao Chaidi was born in Dubai, to two wealthy Thai parents who had moved to the UAE due to business opportunities. Since most Thai people are given a nickname at birth - often times becoming more known as that then their actual name - they decided to call her Noor, which was the Arabic word for light, very similar to the given name they gave her, which means starlight in Thai. Noor was only a toddler when the Chaidi family decided to move to England, so she grew up really only knowing Cambridge. Despite not living in Thailand, Noor never hesitated to give people her families background - namely, that she’s descended from Thai royalty, and as one may expect from someone who drops that routinely, she acts like a princess, and expects to be treated like one at all times. In some ways, she is your typical trust fund princess, and she often throws money around like it’s disposable to her (because it is).
Noor grew up not as close with her parents, but extremely close with her two maternal aunts, who in some ways were more like sisters - they were a decade younger than Noor’s mothers, so they were always the coolest role models to Noor. One of them, Malee, an art dealer who lived between Dubai, Paris, Bangkok and London, always seemed like the coolest person in the world to Noor, and she grew up wanting to emulate her in almost every way. That was what led Noor to wanting to be an artist, something she learned fairly young in life that she was quite talented at. She loves painting, she loves the aesthetism of art, and having an in to the art world to help her future success definitely doesn’t hurt - Noor never planned to be anything but successful.
She originally wanted to go to school in Paris, to be closer to Malee, but ended up deciding on Luxor. Luxor was the exact type of school someone like Noor coveted - it drew people of high status in all sorts of way. Royalty (and not just those descended from it, like she was), celebrities and their children, the richest people around the globe, basically anyone she could ever want to rub elbows with. Noor had always wanted the best for herself, and Luxor was the best. Combining that with her artist talents, Noor knew she would make every connection she could ever possibly desire while at school, and what else was college for, if not networking? Noor’s career ambitions may seem at odds with her love for shopping and talking about herself, but ultimately, she’s a very determined girl who is set on keeping herself in the lifestyle she deserves.

Luciana de la Vida and Mikom Jones met at Luxor when they were in high school, and pretty much fell in love at first sight. The two were young, but they decided to keep dating after high school, doing long distance until Luciana found out she was pregnant. Her conservative parents were livid, but they came to an agreement for her to keep the baby, though it was under the stipulation that the de la Vida’s raised her, and Mikom was no longer in touch. So Tiva de la Vida was born, raised by her mother and grandparents. Mikom eventually showed back up in Luciana’s life, horrified that his daughter had been kept from him for years, but his relationship with Luciana hadn’t changed. After repairing that bond, and falling back in love, they got married when Tiva was five years old, staying in Spain, close to Luciana’s family, though they traveled back and forth between Spain and the US a lot.
After about five years of a happy marriage, when Tiva was sixteen, they moved back stateside - Manhattan, to be exact - closer to the Jones’ family, and allowing Tiva to learn about the other side of her family. Tiva was doted on by her maternal grandparents for her entire childhood, their over the top care for her only increasing after the move, and she is still the absolute light of their lives. Despite not caring (to put it lightly) for Mikom, they couldn’t love Tiva anymore. Likewise, she is utterly adored by her parents, especially her father, who has never felt like he made up for missing the first few years of her life, even though Tiva couldn’t remember any of that if she tried. Regardless, she has never wanted for anything, and as soon as she could desire something, someone in her family made sure to hand it over.
Tiva, much like her parents, went to Luxor for high school, but decided to take a gap year after graduating in 2020. She spent the year traveling - spent some time in Spain, but spent most of the year exploring the rest of the world, before deciding to return to Luxor. The travel program, of course, so she could continue traveling while going back to her studies.

Tiva is a true diva, fitting for her name. She grew up the center of attention, and her parents and grand-parents all absolutely worshipped her, so she is used to that utter adoration. She likes to be the focus of whatever conversation she partakes in, while still staying quite guarded and not sharing much about herself.
She’s a partier, for sure. Wild child through and through. She likes to go out and dance, and while she doesn’t mind being sober to do so, she definitely likes to partake in drinking and various drugs. Prefers it, to be honest. She also very much loves attention, and has a moderately sized following on Tik Tok - where she posts videos of herself dancing, mostly (she’s a hip hop dancer) - and Instagram.
On the other hand, she’s very intelligent, and if she bothers to show up for class, she’s almost guaranteed to get a good grade, just because of how smart she is. Most people wouldn’t know it, so her brains tend to take people by surprise. Not that she’s actively trying to hide them, it’s just one of the last things she cares about.
