I honestly miss cute davejake fanart like this. The only interpretation that I see of them nowadays is "Dave gets reminded of John because of Jake, and Jake gets reminded of Dirk because of Dave" and honestly I think that this belief is boring AF, (no shade) if we're actually looking at them as a pairing, if that makes sense. There is so much more to explore about how their relationship would work out, stop chaining in other characters to make it interesting!
