Help!!! Squeakee needs Repairs!
Please share this around!
I just found this new friend at a thrift store today, but upon testing him out, he seems to have a few problems. he does incomplete motions, isn't responsive a lot of the time, and shuts off at random times. I've tried five different sets of batteries (with the same result) and the more I use him, the worse he seems to work. is his board fried? how can I fix this? please let me know if you have any information on how to repair him!
(don't worry, he is very happy here at home though.)
I don't have experience with this specific bot but it sounds like some kind of motor problem maybe? My suggestion would be to take him apart and put him back together. Internals can get knocked out of line and not connect properly but be put back easily.
Should only need small screwdrivers. Putting the screws or other pieces in a ziplock bag helps to not loose them. The plastic can be brittle so don't force anything that doesn't want to move or bend.
Points to check would be the physical parts the motor uses to move the limbs. (I have a bot that had this problem. A piece of plastic that moved a leg had snapped inside. The fix was just super glueing it back in.) And the wire connection points for sensors and buttons. If you don't know what you're looking at Google is a great tool even if it's not exactly the same model.
I hope it's a simple fix to get him in working order :)
A friend has gifted me her old furby. They're a rain cloud 2012 furby. My first of the newer gen!
On first look I'm going to need to:
Clean their fur, it's crunchy in places
Clean the battery compartment, it's super bad but I'm hopeful
And wipe down the exposed plastic bits
They've obviously been well loved and I'm excited to try to get them working again! I'll post more pics of them as I work on them.
Here's pixel (a hatchimal peacat twin a)
bopping while I was washing her fur the other day!
Would you trade furbies for hatchimals? I have 2 hatchimals and I hate them. But I love furbies
Thanks for the offer but my furbs are staying with me for now lol. But mood on disliking hatchimals. I've only got one so far but I hate her in the best way. My horrid goblin child ❤️ I got for one single dollar.
I recently found a hatchimal at a thrift store and wanted to clean her. But there was no guides on how to take them apart. So here is the steps I took to open them up.
This gonna be a long post.
This is Pixel pre cleaning. She is a peacat twin a.
She had a ziptie similar to a furbys. I took out the four screws in the base to have better access to it. I then cut it and put the screws back as they hold base together.
I then peeled it up to find the area around the wings are held in by tabs. Wiggle them and they should come out.
The wing opening is smaller than the wings themselves. But the wings squish some and detach. If they detach don't worry they slide right back in.
I don't have a great photo of it but I cut the seam in her neck as it couldn't roll up any further.
The area around the eyes are similar to the wings, only more difficult to remove . I did end up cutting a few tabs after trying for 20mins to get them out lol. Hopefully anyone else trying this will have more patience/luck.
Finally the fur is free and cleanable!
I cleaned her the same way I do furbys. A wash in the sink with a bit of detergent.
I've yet to refur her as I plan to customize her and don't want to go through the hassle of defuring again. The process should be similar just in reverse!
Have fun cleaning them dirty robots! :)
Hello World!
I'm super interested in robopets and similar friends and want to post about them. I hope to post some wip and fixing of robots. Probably other stuff too as I have a ping pong ball of a brain.
I'm not the best at social stuff and hope to use my interests to help. (I also have like 0 idea how tumblr works and am catching up on internet stuffs lol)
