Men in Burka - Techno Allah

We are working on some new releases - more soon - but while we are busy doing that, we like to remind ourselves of some of our great past releases.

For example Men in Burka - the hand-screen printed 6-track EP we released maybe 2 years ago, but it’s still fresh. 

Delivering Ethno-Experimental, Mid East Dance Beats and the Sound of Unrest, armed with synths and MPC-1000 samplers, Men in Burka create powerful dance tracks with booming bass lines. The band is an art project of Kamran Khan “the Ramadan-Dadaist from Denver”, Mario Zoots (both also known for his work with indie art electronic group Modern Witch) and electronic afficionado Strange Powers, their sound is uncompromising and convention-defying, creating something dark, mysterious, and exciting.

Modern Witch - Babylon now available via Robot Elephant Records

Dark and brooding EBM, Electro and Cold Wave sketches are the hallmark of Modern Witch. The band hailing out of Denver makes music that is designed for the twighlight zone between dancefloor and Italian horror films, and this LP collects 12 more tracks from the archives, and is the follow-up to last years "Hollywood".  We got hold of  some copies via T(R)eue um (T)Reue.

Death and the Maiden - Now available via Robot Elephant Records

We love some post-punk tinged, slightly gothic influenced pop, and Death and the Maiden are a very special jewel in this field, hailing out of Dunedin, New Zealand. Delivering carefully crafted gems of sparsely instrumented, dark and beautiful songs featuring guitars, synthesizers, drum machines, as well as bass and vocals of front woman Lucinda King, this band will likely be going a long way from their home town on the opposite end of the world. We could call up reference points such as Grimes, The xx and Siouxsie and the Banshees - but this band is rather unique. We are distributing some copies of the LP and CD which is released via Fishrider Records / Occultation Records.

It's shaping up to be a massive event with over 50 sellers - probably a little bit more obscure than usual.
