I do hope it wasn't a follower who ignored my "don't come into my ask box to tell me why you can't donate blood" in the tags of that "no one wants to make an effort to help their neighbors but everyone want to be helped" but I will state it again, louder and in bold font.
If a fear of needles is all that is stopping you from donating blood, that is something that you CAN and SHOULD work on improving.
There will be times in your life where you have to have a needle in your skin - IVs in the hospital, vaccinations, medications - and it is in your best interest to be able to handle that without panicking. Donating blood is a GREAT way to desensitize yourself, as you are working with trained professionals who know how to do it safely and in a low pressure situation (and not when, say, you're in the ER after a car accident and shaking and dehydrated) AND you get to save lives! Every time! They often even give you free stuff like gift cards or T shirts or socks or whatever. You just lean back in a chair and hold still for like 30 minutes. Watch something on your phone with headphones in, scroll Tumblr, do whatever!
(also you should know your blood type like you know your birthday)
Maybe I sound mean telling people to work on their fears to improve their lives and literally keep other people from dying of blood loss, but I'm also right. Sometimes improving yourself or helping others is gonna be uncomfortable or hard or tiring. You should do it anyway.
To ensure the safety of both patients and donors, these are some of the requirements donors must meet to be eligible to donate blood based o
