Any time someone starts some bullshit about how humans are hyperindividualistic and inherently selfish and exclusively motivated by self-intetest, I'll just tell them to go ahead and go do it then. Go live alone. Fuck off into the woods to make sure that no society ever benefits from your presence. See if you can teach yourself how to make a spear out of a rock or a shelter for one from nothing but your own wits and the nature around you. Go see how natural that feels, how happy it makes you to know that you don't need nobody and that nobody's life is improved by your presence.
So how come you don't have that skillset? Solitary animals that don't meet other members of their species outside of mating seasons tend to just fuck off from the nest and be completely fine on their own. Rattlesnakes don't need instructions for how to rattlesnake. Needing to be taught human survival skills implies you would need other people.
Hot take!
The desire to escape society and the need for human interaction are not mutually exclusive.
I'm not any kind of expert on this, I just want to share my thoughts so please don't come at me--
Humans are social animals, through and through. We literally evolved to interact. The primary reason we have language and the ability to think abstractively is because early humans somehow had to learn to communicate their needs to others, otherwise they died. They needed help to survive. Hence, our brains are biologically hardwired for seeking interaction and it is something a brain needs to developed healthily.
If someone is 100% sure they would be completely fine with zero human interaction then that person should get help from a specialist. Preferably fast.
However, modern society does not always provide healthy interaction simply because modern society tends to be too big.
The need to escape into the woods far away from humanity is usually felt by people being born in big cities and as someone who was born in a big city I totally get it. Too much interaction is owerhwelming and when you are surrounded by people from all sides your mind starts to wonder - would it be easier if I just disappeared. We go from one absolute to another and it is very fucking sad that very few people are told that there is a middle way.
We aren't meant to live in groups of thousands, surrounded by infrastructure from all sides. Such intensive urbanisation leads to zoochosis - and yes, humans can experience it too - procrastination, compulsive behaviours, doing things on autopilot, the need to be better, etc. You name it!
So, yeah, the desire be alone is there because of too much stimuli from all sides. It is not healthy or reasonable or practical and if followed would almost certainly lead to death. Biologically, it doesn't make sense. Abstractively, it's perfectly sound.
But, well, this is just my uneducated opinion and I'd love to talk about it.
Some shit quality cuts incoming, but oh well. I gotta say this.
This scene. This particular scene. THE WAY I GASPED because who else used to pull that move?
This bitch.
The moment I saw Zuko do this I couldn't help but notice how similar he looks to his father and like... There is no way he is not aware of that.
The amount of ISSUES he must get from that. Oh My God.
I know that some people already pointed out that - omg Ozai was an evil prick, but he was also fine shit and thank fuck Zuko inherited those looks - but like...
I can't help but think that at one point he looked in a mirror from a weird angle, or someone confused him with Ozai, or... whatever and he was like...
Fuck.
Let's not forget that Zuko's biggest fear was becoming his father, so I think that as he got older he might have started to appreciate his scar more and more because it's THE major difference in their appearances.
...
I have a scene at the forefront of my mind where Zuko sits alone in his rooms in darkness with all the reflective surfaces covered besides one. And he's just... staring at his reflection and wondering was that what Azula felt when she went crazy. His image shifts, distorts. First into his sister, then to their mother, to finally settle on Ozai and it's wrong because his eyes are wide, his mouth is slightly parted; he looks scared. And Zuko doesn't remember ever seeing that emotion on his father's face. He frowns, the reflection mirrors it and he realizes that it's... him. He breaks the mirror, hurts his hand and hopes nobody notices. But Iroh does, and Iroh being Iroh, he addresses it.
...
Yeah, I'm sorry.
So, um. Brain worms got me.

it fucking sucks being a disabled person who can't work and having to see these fuckass posts where someone's like "ahaha jobless people have no life and that's why everyone shitty online has No Job" and everyone and their mother reblogs it joyfully onto my dash for me to see. yes unemployed and unemployable people are truly without exception dogshit people with no hobbies and no redeeming qualities. you're so right. anyway if you'll excuse me i have to start my shift at the I'll Never Be Employed Because Of Permanent Disability And I Love Knowing How You Really See Me store
if ur able to work can u reblog this i am seriously SO sick of it.
btw this isn't solely a disability rights issue or an issue about people who are entirely unable to work. you should also be thinking about the people who are regarded as unhireable. transfems are hugely discriminated against in this way, people of color are passed over for less qualified white people, anyone who has any difficulty playing the interview game is less hireable... frankly anyone who made the mistake of pursuing the things they love and now has a degree for a niche field. if you still joke about Jobless People it's because you've fundamentally connected the worth of people to their labor, and specific labor, work that you see as valuable. and while i'm at it stop making fun of people who still live with their parents. asshole.
Still fighting with an art block, so... another bestest girl!
One's flat colour the other has some ✨depth✨ idk how to shade tho but I think it turned out pretty well after some tweaking.
The audacity to say something nice in the series bookmark without saying something nice in the comments of the actual fics. please use copy paste on that and tell meeeeeeeeeee the nice things to my digital face
Whenever I have an art block I like to sketch Ahsoka. She has such a special place in my heart that It feels like I just can't go wrong with her.
I gotta admit that I haven't drawn in a while and it was so darn annoying at the beginning because I felt my hand was so unsteady I stg. The first sketch looks so stiff and I felt like I was back in highschool struggling to figure out basic proportions, it was not fun at all. And I want to have fun while drawing, when the fun is not there then my heart is also not in it.
I did the 3/4 last and while it's still not exactly what I wanted from myself I genuinely had fun with that sketch. The lines aren't as stiff, gravity is there, perspective... could be better lmao, but the style got a little closer to what I'm opting for plus I enjoyed it and that's what counts.
It sucks because there are so many things to do I literally don't have time to draw and when I finally find a window, it's like I have to relearn just holding the pencil.
Adding two Ahsokas I did in 2023 or 2024 back when I was still comfortable with drawing (I think it shows lol but I hope I'll get there again at one point).
“You’re a beast trying to defend what’s yours.”
“That much I can understand.”
I am officially 22 which is the age Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader and I am... very conflicted about it.
Because like-- I don't feel grown up, I don't feel like I'm entirely conscious of myself, I don't feel like I have lived yet and my guy was actively conquering the galaxy.
I'm not saying that this was an accomplishment because I am CERTAIN he was not happy to be in that situation.
However, 22 is so, so fucking young and still, it's the age he lived through the greatest tragedy of his life. It's the age when he lost everything important to him. It's the age when his life ended. From a certain point of view...
There is something ominous hanging in the air and I am humbly submitting to it in hopes it will ignore me.

Following the events of Season 10, Emperor Garmadon finds himself contemplating what he is, if anything at all, when it comes to his place in this world. He was never meant to be here in this realm, nor exist in the first place. After leaving the Monastery of Spinjiztu before anyone could spot him, he finds something in one of Ninjago’s forests after weeks of wandering…
