The amount of slavery in Ancient Rome was legitimately terrifying tbh
Y’all know that I’m into ancient Roman history and I do a lot of research on it but even though I should be used to it by now sometimes I read an anecdote about how an individual slave was treated and I’m hit with the realization that like a third of the population was living like that and I just need to put my head in my hands for a second
Emperor Hadrian randomly stabbed a slave in the eye in a fit of rage and he was supposedly unusually sympathetic to slaves.
There’s other instances of people randomly punching slaves that they didn’t even know because they got in their way or something. This was just normal behavior.
And slaves didn’t rebel en masse because if even one slave committed an act of violent rebellion it was common practice to kill every slave and former slave in the household.
People only took notice for posterity when these mass executions got into the hundreds of people. One of the few recorded for the history books is of over 400 people being killed because one guy stabbed his enslaver.
Like how many people throughout history were beaten to death because some rich asshole was angry and there was no legal or social consequences for doing so? We don’t know.
When you study ancient history you’re reminded that slavery has never once been kind or justified. It just takes on different forms of evil in every time and place that it infects.
*cracking open your moral intuition systems* ohhh i see, there's the issue, you're running secularism on a kernel built for protestant morality.
Tricky one cause the kernel's built around creating the need for salvation from a higher power, and you'll have to change up a lot of the systems for evaluating your own and others' moral worth to avoid operating with a deficit when there's no inbuilt release valve.
You haven't been going around making up ad-hoc solutions for redeeming sinners instead of trying to patch out the notion of sin, right?
a friend requested i draw princess leia and i had a lot of fun drawing her. i'm still struggling with capturing likeness when drawing portraits but i think it's good to practice every once in a while

Happy pride to everybody, but especially to Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Revan and whatever sort of gender it is that they have going on
Having just finished KOTOR a few days ago, one thing I'll say is I sure didn’t expect the absolute blast of gender that eminates from Revan. No one even knows their pronouns.
He? She? They? Obscure neopronoun?
Revan could have easily clarified that at any moment but they don’t and I love that for them
*descends from the heavens*
revhani is butch4butch and revastila is butchfemme

всем привет, ребятки! в моей жизни началась новая эра угарания по Старой Республике, поэтому начинаем заново) два года назад это прокнуло, пробуем еще раз! Я ИЩУ РОЛЕВИКА (желательно соролевицу) по Star wars the old republic
any time i see people who know very little about the old republic/kotor glaze the fuck out of revan online i just have to laugh
the bitch that plays peek-a-boo with lizard-cats? that kicked a computer that didn’t cooperate? who programmed an assassin droid to make them laugh? whose love language is ragebaiting? that revan?
and then i find out they think revan is some stoic and terrifying keanu reeves man cult leader who’s just proto kylo ren.
sigh… i just wish people would actually play kotor and give it the respect it deserves as a story.
this is one of my favorite revastila interactions, mostly bc this is what a kinrath looks like:
and i also have no idea what revan is trying to imply here
i think it’s funny when people try to compare chopper and hk-47. i think they would definitely get along in some capacity, but the main thing that separates them is that chopper ultimately does care about his crew + kanan and is completely loyal to hera. hk… on the other hand… well…
he doesn’t really seem to like anyone attached to his master.
"Your name is Shasa? And you want me to tell your father to stop being a coward? 🙄 Sometimes the Force isn't even subtle..."
So Scout's first major Dark Side action was killing a young Selkath named Shasa instead of convincing her to go back to her father. 🙃 We're definitely back on track for this being the evil playthrough, I guess.
Died for nothing, achieved nothing, only to be known as a pawn and a sidekick to his own master - who got it all in the end.
