Anna's Trip | Boracay Island, Philippines
My friend Anna decided to spend her vacation at Boracay, I was just an hour and a half away so I decided to visit her for a day. We had a bit of rain but besides that everything was wonderful! Oh, also those two beautiful people with colorful backgrounds are my parents.
Lakawon Island | Cadiz, Philippines
On my 2nd day at Bacolod I went to visit Lakawon Island, this time around I didn’t do the trip alone, I was with my friend Aritas and her family. She was to celebrate her birthday on the whitest beach I’ve ever seen. Also, free food, yay!
Right, so Lakawon Island was a good 3-4 hour road trip away from Bacolod City and 15 minute boat ride for a good measure. Oh yeah, please remember to bring cash with you if you want to visit the island, local tourism’s a bit racked up with their price, an entry to the island can cost you around P800, which is around $20.
Ooof.
Though hey, look at the pictures! If the Lacsons are into pools, the locals of Lakawon Island are really into flags.

Bacolod was an awesome adventure for me, though I did not stay for long, the experience was something worth remembering.
Lets do it again!
The Ruins | Bacolod, Philippines
Built by a sugar baron, Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson around 1900’s, this awesome mansion that he called home is located just 15 minutes away from the heart of Bacolod City. This badass of a man burned his own mansion down when he learned that the Japanese forces were planning to use his home as their forward operations base, and this beautiful structure that the locals call the Ruins was left standing after the fire ravaged it for days.
Today, you can visit the structure, tour its ruins and enjoy a nice cuppa under the midday sun. Stylishly cheap.
I felt like a senorito while sipping my cappuccino, all relaxed and content like.
When I took the stairs up to the second floor, I came upon a pool with a solitary purple lily. I named her The Queen. She was a snob, but a pretty one.
Indoors, I found a garden with a water pump and a pool, for what purpose, I can only guess. It was beautiful.

I can almost imagine how extravagant this hallway must have looked back on its more glorious days.
Bacolod Adventure
Bacolod is a nifty place to visit if you love good food and exciting cheap adventures (it has a lot of nature spots if you’re willing to do 2-3 hour road trips). I say cheap because I went there on an impromptu tour with nothing but P3,500 under my name! And I got to visit two beautiful spots, I was aiming for three really (The Ruins, Lankawon Island and Mambukal Falls…the latter I was not able to visit) but I was recalled back to Kalibo to prepare for another adventure which was a visit to the Boracay Island with the family. Another adventure that I will share later!
I was at Iloilo City at the time to see friends and families when several opportunities to visit Bacolod came to me. By opportunities I meant that 1. Bacolod was really just an hour boat ride away from Iloilo 2. The friends and families that I was to see, I discovered were too busy to entertain me, and 3. A good friend was celebrating her birthday at Bacolod, which meant free food.
Look, call me cheapskate but I’ll take a 10 hour boat ride if it promises me an awesome adventure and free food.
Oh, I’m splitting this entry into a two part adventure for the sake of good documentation (honestly, I’m not sure how to present this but hey, I’ll learn as we go on!)

So I'm finally done with my entrance portfolio for that certain art school that I'm aiming to get into. Which means I now have the time to update my online persona! I've been to several beautiful places actually (from my last post to this one), I had a short little mind vacation in preparation for the expected rough time that I will be having at the school, but no matter, I'm pretty stoked with the thought of studying again. But I digress, back to my adventures. Hold tight, I'll jumping back to time to pull out pictures and memories...

Buddha Statue | Chin Swee Temple, Genting Highlands
There is something about being alone in a place like Chin Swee Temple. When the only companion you have is that silent serenity that emanates not just from the spiritual vibes of the location but also from the very breath of nature that envelopes it. I was glad that I decided to visit Chin Swee on a Sunday afternoon. I had the whole place for myself for an hour or so, free to visit the shrines, touch statues, absorb the calmness and was able to bask on its peacefulness I would like to think that I was able to capture the totality of Chin Swee with this picture. With Buddha calmly peering from the trees. I'll visit this place again when given a chance.
Also, the vegetarian food I had for lunch was first class.
Hanuman Statue | Batu Caves Malaysia
"So Rama and Sita live in your heart, can you show them to us?" Unhesitatingly, Hanuman stood up and with his sharp talons tore open his chest. There, within his throbbing heart, the astonished audience were taken aback to find enshrined an image of Rama and Sita. Never again did anyone make fun of Hanuman's devotion.
This will be the first towering statue that you meet when you enter Batu Caves from the train station side. A colossal jade colored statue of Hanuman ripping open his heart to reveal Rama and Sita. Aside from the amazing sights and the exposure to different cultures, one of the few things I enjoy while traveling is using my idle time to research the history and stories of the things that I experienced. The Hindu culture is a rich culture full of colors and stories.
The space awaits those men who knows no bounds, adventurers adventuring for love.

I was at Korea too at one time. Caught this seagull doing its midday flying at Gwangalli Beach. The locals go here on the afternoon to feed pigeons and seagulls. The kids go here to chase them.
