Essex county championships were this weekend. I didn't wake up for the Saturday morning events, but I did stop by on my way home from the Friday stuff. Here are a few shots from the first event, the 400m hurdles.

Random photography tip here. Track pictures look better when you can look straight down the track and have the track in the background, instead of the infield. For some reason, I decided to move up before the boys event, so there's a different composition. In retrospect, I like the composition of the girls race much better.

Some photos from the GCU track meet two weeks ago. Georgian Court University hosted the CTC Outdoor Championships this year on April 20, 2013.

It was a chilly, April day, but I came out to support Ice. I took a few pictures of the hurdle finals, but I didn't like the way they came out. Didn't quite catch the peak moment of action.

But these photos of the 4x800m relay, on the other hand, came out quite good. I like the bottom two. They're the back home straight at the end of the first lap. The bottom let picture is zoomed out on purpose to make the field look really deep, while the bottom right photo offers a much better picture of the girls' faces.

Too bad track season is just about over...

These are some more photos from the GCU fashion show on Friday. I posted a few shots of the girls on the runway yesterday, and these come from the obligatory hip hop dance crew performance.

The group is Ill Matic Force, a dance troop from the Newark, NJ area. I didn't have a clear view of the whole stage from my seat, so I didn't get any wide shots of the group... but I caught a few tight shots focused on the center of the stage.

It was an impressive show, and they were really good. The group was pretty big, and they had some practiced, clean choreography. A lot different from the smaller dance groups (4 to 5 people) I'm used to seeing in EO. Less improv and more choreography.

Friday night, Georgian Court University hosted its annual fashion show. It's a charity event to raise money for a local children's hospital, and I've been going for the past few years to support Ice (the girl in the second row on the right).

I wasn't working the event; I was just spectating. But I can't resist an opportunity to take some pictures! I really only meant to snap a few pics of Ice when she was on the runway, but I ended up with a few dozen great shots from the night.
