“They want to hurt me. Please, don’t let them!”

“Please, just leave me behind. They only want me.”

“You’re going to get yourself killed rushing in for me like that.”

“They were going to kill you! Why would you risk your life like that?”

Rodan frowned, the expression curling his beak downward ever so slightly. His wings wrapped a little tighter around his form and he paused, as if trying to measure his answer.

“You know I don’t like to talk about this,” He said, “But my answer is the same as last time. I’ll leave it at that.”

Rodan hadn’t noticed the familiar sound of gargantuan footsteps making contact with trees and rubble below— That had been his first mistake. His second mistake had been failing to catch scent of the approaching King— seawater and fish and leather. It was only when the King addressed him directly did Rodan realize his follies. The King? Here? But how? Rodan felt himself somehow growing even more pale. He couldn’t let another Titan see him like this, never mind his own Alpha.

“My King—!” Rodan squawked, forcing himself out of the magma pool abruptly and clambering onto land. From the way his body swayed with the wind to how pale he looked, it was clear Rodan was ill.

“Yes,” He lied, “I’m perfectly fine. What brings you to these parts? Do you require my assistance?” It didn’t matter if it hurt him in the process. Rodan still had a lot of making up to do for his time under the False King in his eyes.

Gojira? Or The Queen? Rodan frowned, resting his head back against the stone below as he gave a thoughtful croon. “Not yet. Truthfully, you caught me just as I woke up. I’ve hardly been awake for a day yet,” He admitted, “Though I would hate to bother them over some silly cold.”

Yet, Kamata was worried. Rodan couldn’t let Kamata fuss over him like this. “… But, I can seek them out if you’d like?” He said, “I could always call for one of them. How does that sound?”

“Well… If it means anything, generally when I feel sick Goji tells me I should get plenty of rest! Maybe you should try the same thing!”

     Kamata could understand Rodans hesitance to bother Gojira or Mosura, Kamata himself was the same way! He never wanted to bother his older brother or sister, which is why he mostly went and did everything by himself. However, the notion of Rodan getting a ‘cold’ was odd to Kamata…

“Wait, you can get cold?” He’d ask in a confused manner, tilting his head slightly to the side, “I thought you were the Magma Titan! I didn’t think you could get cold!”

Rodan was about to respond to Kamata’s first statement when he asked that silly, silly question. Oh, how he longed to have that starstruck, childlike demeanor that Kamata possessed. If he wasn’t sick, he would’ve gently tapped Kamata on the head with his beak in an affectionate gesture.

“It’s a figure of speech, though I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little chilly,” He admitted, “My Flame is still bright within me. It just happens to be a little cooler than usual. I’ve been sick like this before, and this always happens. I’ll be fine in no time with a bit of rest, Little Prince.”

Shale has been wondering where her avian friend has gone to. Glad he’s okay(ish).

Rodan poked his head out of the lava basin once more, narrowing his eyes at the sky as if to try and decide whether or not to fly or not. A breeze swept by afterwards though, forcing the Titan to shrink back into the depths of the molten rock once more with a shiver.

Okayish might be a bit of an overstatement.

“We-Well yeah, I’ve been sick, but… You definitely look worse for wear.”

     Kamata was anything but capable of not worrying over Rodan, especially when the Magma Titan looked about ready to pass out right then and there. He looked ready to about throw a fuss, his eyebrows furrowing as he’d try to think of something before he’d eventually speak back up, “Have you tried talking to Goji? Or maybe Mosura? I’m sure they’d be able to help you feel better!”

"Jeez, Uncle Rodan... You've looked better! Are you doing okay?"

The Young Prince cast a worried look at the Magma Titan, a concerned rumble escaping the young Titans chest.

Rodan allowed his eyes to fall onto Kamata, his tired expression lighting up with an equally-tired smile. “Is it that bad?” He said, “It must look worse than it feels.” A line he had picked up from the King himself. He didn’t need to worry the Little Prince after all. The title of “Uncle” didn’t go unnoticed by Rodan, though he was far too tired to properly ruminate on that currently.

“I’m doing alright, please don’t worry too much over me, Little Prince,” Rodan crooned, “Just a little sickness is all. Surely you’ve been sick before, hm? This will pass. It always does.”

“What do you want? I’m busy.” Despite saying that, Rodan was currently resting inside the volcano he had just recently woken up from, his head perched along the rim of the opening. From the way his eyes appeared glassy and how a fluid seemed to be smeared around his nostrils, his illness was likely visibly apparent to any who drew close enough.

Long periods of rest were nothing new to most Titans. They weren’t something terribly uncommon, given the sheer size and magnitude of the creatures. Often, it wouldn’t be considered surprising for one of the creatures to go missing for months on end, only to reemerge reinvigorated after having taken a nice, long rest. These hibernations of sorts could be spurred on my many things, whether it be the change in seasons or something a little more occasional than the constant shift of climate.

For Rodan this was, unfortunately, the case.

He knew it was coming. He could feel it in the way his fires were cooler than normal and how he began to feel more and more sluggish. Being a Titan, one of high standing at that, appearing weak was not an option. So, it was better so simply not appear at all— Surely a long slumber would remedy his condition. So, Rodan did what he always did— He found a nice, warm volcano to rest in (this one being off the coast of Hawaii— It was quite nice, all things considered) and fell asleep. Hopefully, when the time came, he’d feel just a little better.

Months passed. Such was only a blink of an eye to a creature like Rodan, but even he wasn’t a fan of longer stretches of slumber. They reminded him far too much of The Fall. Still, he did what he thought what had to be done. As soon as he opened his eyes and brought his head above the molten rock, Rodan knew his attempt at fixing what was wrong hadn’t worked.

He was still sick.

Yet, he couldn’t sleep like this for much longer. He’d have to get something to eat and let the others know he was around as to avoid worrying them— Even if he felt miserable while doing it. If he slept this long, sleeping more wouldn’t do much more good for him. He’d just have to ride this one out, unfortunately.

Ugh.

- SPEED .

((I AM SPEED. When I have time to sit down and write, I can pump out replies like nobody’s business! It’s a matter of getting the time in the first place to get to replies, but I can typically pump out a typical multi-para response in like … 15 minutes? 30 if I’m feeling particularly stumped or if I’m writing something really emotional. Sometimes I tend to go too fast though, and my hands will go numb lol.))

- REPLIES .

((Replies for me are usually around 2-3 short/medium paragraphs. I don’t really do formatting because it confuses me and I want to try and remain accessible since I know sometimes formatted text messes with screen readers. This is also the first blog I’ve used icons for? It’s been alright, but the idea of making more or trying to slap a psd on them is very intimidating. The graphic design aspect of rp in general scares me a bit but I’m trying!! ;;w;; ))

((Something I’ve been trying to work on personally is fluffing and excessive passive language. Like, sometimes I write a lot of my character’s thoughts into a reply and stuff and make it wayyy longer than it needs to be because I feel the need to meet a certain length when, really, just a paragraph would’ve worked! I feel like I have to write a certain amount to seem “reputable” or something— That’s not anybody’s fault, of course! I just have impossible standards for myself. I also tend to stretch phrases out in general? I use the word “have” way too much, I think. I’m working on it, though!))

- STARTERS .

((I feel like I write starters a lot of the time? Not all the time, but I feel like I’m kind of good at writing them! I don’t mind writing them at all, but sometimes it’s also nice to have somebody else pick it up every now and then!))

- SELECTIVITY .

((So like, I’ve been roleplaying on this site since middle school. I know what it feels like to really want to write with somebody but know you’re not up to snuff. Or like when you write (multiple) starters after discussing them with the partner and having all of them get dropped in favor of other writers. Like, I get it, and I’ve been there. It really sucks. I tend to say I’m selective or semi-selective, but that’s namely to ward off the weirdos who come into my direct messages asking for NSFW. I’m happy to give anybody a chance, even if they’re not in a fandom I’m in! I still have the right to say no, but I don’t want anybody to feel like they’re not “good enough” or whatever for me, you know? If I don’t want to write with somebody, it’s just because I don’t think our muses or writing styles wouldn’t mesh well- It never has anything to do with writing ability in and of itself!))

“As if that would stop me from trying,” Rodan hissed, pausing when he realized he was getting just a little too heated. He exhaled a growl, turning away from Ghidorah and looking over his shoulder at him. The mention of him not wallowing got an annoyed huff out of Rodan. “Got tired of crying,” Came his explanation.

He will gladly offer up some extra fire power against the hydra if you want.

“As tempting as the offer is, I’ve promised my Queen to not feud with the Hydra again. If he starts a fight, you’re more than welcome to help me finish it, but I cannot start one.”

Rodan was, truthfully, in a noticeably bad mood now. The rage was evident with the way the embers along the edges of his wings crackled and burned in the air, the spaces between his armor a dim red. And honestly?

It feels good. Maybe he ought to make a habit out of this.
