Gearhead x Ratchet (GearRatch) Headcanons

I can't help but envision their relationship as "Gearhead fell first, Ratchet fell harder." Gear spent enough time around the ol mech to know that he wasn't just the grumpy medic, and she truly came to love the smart, dedicated, and selfless bot he is. Ratchet, to me, has enough barriers up where one must work into his spark to get him to feel this deeply, and that's what Gearhead did through their proximity. Her optimism, supportive nature, and big spark roped him in, whether he meant for it to happen or not.
These two have spent enough time together at base that they've inadvertently picked up on each other's vocabulary. The first time Gearhead said "I needed that," she needed to go lie down
She can and will use her size against him, mostly to force him to recharge when he's overworking himself. Pick up the man and take him to bed. He likes it
Ratchet is old fashioned in love, but he tries to keep PDA to a minimum, if only because the team's focus is on protecting Earth from Decepticons and, eventually, restoring Cybertron. It only got out to the team when a "sweetspark" slipped out while Ratch was talking to her in front of Bee, who proceeded to tell the entire group
They help each other out with their tasks. While we do see Ratchet in TFP work on some mechanical things, he's far more computer and medical oriented. Gearhead takes on the engineering, but Ratchet is there to hold things in place or do whatever as needed. Similarly, Gearhead's learned a bit about the medical side of things, enough to at least administer basic first aid in the field. Also how to not get her arm blown off (again)
Sometimes, during the rare moment of peace, they escape out onto the roof of the base together or go out for late night drives just to be under the stars, reminiscing of home and dreaming of a life there again, this time together.
