The Dungeons

As the aftermath of the attack began to vanish, leaving the inside of the temple in dust and fading light, Bakurah stared at the dragon which was still standing. The thief stared in utter frustration and anger. His attack hadn’t been strong enough and now the Ba he had left was merely enough to keep him alive. On shaking legs he clung to the sand stone, more blood dripping from his lips.

"No one will destroy me…" He spat, leaving a thick spot of blood on the ground. "Not until this kingdom has payed with their blood…" In his despair, Bakurah commanded Diabound to attack Blue Eyes with sheer strength. He had no magic left so Diabound used his claws, grabbing the Dragon by his throat, Diabound buried his claws into it, then bit down onto the right side of the dragons face in an attempt to rip its eye right out.

Set could swear it felt like hot knives were digging into his neck and face. If he didn’t counter now, his own eye would be sacrificed. The was one of the few opportunities he had to wipe out Diabound once and for all. Bakurah was far to weak to withstand the full force of the power of the white dragon. The dragon thrashed and whipped at Diabound with it’s tail.

"O’ great White Dragon, attack Diabound now!" He commanded desperately. The dragon responded by twisting it’s neck so it was face to face with the serpent-like ka before releasing a blast of white lightning in such close proximity. It was a risky attack that took a bit out of Set for doing so, but it was the only thing he could do now.

"You’re through, thief!"

Diabounds attack on the Dragons eye failed and with not enough Ba left to start a counterattack, the Monster was faced with one of Blue - Eyes white lightning attacks. This time, the serpent was too close to vanish and without it’s tail, there was also no way to dodge this time.

As Bakurah realized that, his eyes went wide. It felt like the Priests words were eyes, piercing through his ears and leaving the desert robber in the realization that now there was nothing left he could do. The throbbing pain of the countless wounds on his body reminded him of the fact that he was still alive though and by Apophis this was not going to change. Desperately he clenched his hands into fists and tried to call out another command but it was too late…

With an agonizing roar, the creature was ripped apart, it’s remains landing on the steps of the temple. Then the serpent faded into shadows until there was nothing left of Diabound, in this mortal realm.

The sound of splashing was heard as Bakurah coughed up blood. The pain was immense, it felt like his heart was getting ripped apart. With Diabound being a part of his soul, it was exactly what the thief felt. A part of him getting ripped apart and even the wounds that had been about to heal, reopened to prolong the thiefs suffering…

With Diabound gone, Set smirked knowing that the demon has been vanquished by his hand. He took a deep breath and regained his stance, trying his best to shrug off his own injuries sustained from the great battle with the thief king. He willed Blue-Eyes away and stepped towards the fallen thief. "As I have said before, filth, you won't defeat me. Now you are defenseless and injured. You will not survive much longer." Cruel blue eyes narrowed as he unsheathed the blade beneath the millennium rod.

"I could end for you here and now, your suffering has gone on quite enough..."

The Dungeons

The attack hit but not as direct as Bakurah wanted it to be, only the dragons wings were hit and Bakurah didn’t have enough Ba left for another attack. At least he thought so - if he tried it might tear him apart. Teeth clenched, the throbbing feeling of pain in Bakurahs leg began to remind him that not only his Ba was weakened but also his body wouldn’t make it much longer.

Diabound rested its claws on the ground, giving deep hisses and long breaths as it tried to regain energy. But his source of energy was exhausted and so the creature was left to bare its fangs in an attempt to scare the dragon away.

It had no use, he had to try and attack the dragon again. Even if he escaped now - the time he had suffered inside the dungeon would have been wasted and the Priest would be left unpunished. He would not allow it. So despite all warnings, Bakurah rose a hand and commanded Diabound to attack once more.

"I won’t leave until I see your corpse in the dirt before me!" Bakurah spat in a rush of anger. "Destroy him already, leave nothing of his dragon left!" Insanity was taking over the thief as he kept commanding Diabound to attack in an almost feverish heat, forming a fist as if he tried to squish the dragon himself.

The White Dragon roared fiercely, refusing to let it’s master die. It made Seth briefly recall Kisara’s sacrifice prior to allowing him to take the dragon should he need it desperately. Now was as good a time as any to utilize it to it;s full potential, however much he feared losing to the filthy heretic.

"I’ll see you dead first, thief!" He called out and demanded Blue-Eyes to counter. His own Ba was diminishing, that attack taking a large amount of his strength with it. The attack didn’t obliterate it completely, but it left a great deal of damage in it’s wake. Now he wasn’t too sure how much more of the sheer power from Bakurah’s beast could he take. He was weakening, much to the point where it was an effort to just stand. "Thief…if you manage to defeat me, mark my words that someone else will destroy you!"

"But Set, what I have done?" he begged, his one eye watering with sorrow. "You tell me that I am dangerous, but how? Have I assaulted someone? Have I made threats? Have you heard rumors of the unthinkable - that I conspire against our esteemed Majesty?”

Then his chest hitched and he began to sob:

“I do not understand! What is my crime?”

The incapacitated priest made a point, he hadn’t done a crime yet. All he did was harass him and pose a threat. Set could only go by instinct on the fact that he believed that something was in control of the man he respected and owed a lot to. Even now, he still did despite the feeling of untrust he had towards him.

"Master Akhenaden, while you haven’t done any official wrong, I have reason to believe that you’re a threat. You have not been yourself and it’s unsettling."

This would not do - this would not do at all. The demon was becoming most frustrated with Set’s resolve. If he wanted to be released, he needed to take a more drastic approach.

"I… I see," the old priest replied, and his head hung lower. "I had always intended to confess to you what I truly felt in my heart about certain things… and certain people. I have carried the guilt for so long, and I cannot bear to do so any longer."

Then he gazed straight into Set’s eyes and said, “My student… No, my successor… You must kill me, for the sake of the kingdom… for the sake of the King.”

Set tried to not let any emotion betray his stoicity, despite Akhenaden's death wish. He couldn't kill his mentor, he didn't have enough just reasoning. That and he could be considered treasonous for killing him without the pharaoh's knowledge of what was going on. It was too risky.

"You know very well that I cannot kill you, Akhenaden. You're being far too dramatic. I won't treat you like every other prisoner I've tortured. You will be fed and given water every day, I will see to that. Consider this a way to keep an eye on you."

The soldier was struggling to breathe, losing his consciousness slowly. He hoped Set would come quickly and save him, however much Set could care less about the death of a few replaceable soldiers.

Soon enough, the high priest came down the steps and stood in front of the cell in which Akhenaden was held captive. “What did you call me down for? I have better things to do rather than entertain the likes of you.”

As soon as he heard his approach, Cockhenaden feigned that he was his lighter side. He fell limp into his chains and bowed his head, groaning.

When Set demanded an answer, the old priest lifted his head slowly and groaned, “Oh, Set, please, you must let me out of these chains. This man… This terrible man…”

He pointed a trembling finger at the soldier and continued: “He tried to commit the most horrible crime upon me, Set. I dare… dare not repeat it, it is most foul. Please, Set, my shining star, my precious apprentice, help me.”

Set eyed the guard in the cell with him, giving him a stern look before gesturing for him to leave now. The guard looked from the priest and back to Set in utter confusion before moving to get the hell out of there. The high priest wanted to keep this between Akhenaden and himself. Whatever the guard was to do, he’ll deal with it later.

"You realize why I threw you in here, right?" He promptly shut the cell again, watching him carefully through the bars. "You’re dangerous and you need to have a watchful eye." He cared not of what Akhenaden thought of him, it was best that he chose not to keep a hold of formalities and relations.

"But Set, what I have done?" he begged, his one eye watering with sorrow. "You tell me that I am dangerous, but how? Have I assaulted someone? Have I made threats? Have you heard rumors of the unthinkable - that I conspire against our esteemed Majesty?”

The high priest was already accepting that even with his strongest monster, he wasn’t going to make it out without suffering a great blow to his Ba. Bakurah’s hatred gave Diabound immeasurable power and that was where he had him beat. Despite being starved, dehydrated, and unable to sleep, somehow the thief gathered more power than the priest could even with his most powerful beast and all the training he took over the years.

Seth looked up in time to notice and felt searing pain in his arms in response, clenching the rod tightly in his hands so he wouldn’t drop it. Narrowing his eyes, he managed to raise his head to see what was going on but Bakurahs vision was blurry. The Ba he had given to make Diabound appear had already been too much from that little energy he had left. But he couldn’t lose, not yet. He was so close.

Diabound was motionless before it slowly pushed itself up again, staring right into the white lightning bolt that was threatening to tear the creature apart.In his despair, Bakurah shouted another command before the dragon attacked. White light covered the entire temple and forced Bakurah to close his eyes and cover them with his arm for he feared he would go blind if he stared too long into that light.

A scream and the light vanished, leaving the dark temple behind. There was no sight of Diabound but Bakurah was still alive. He pushed himself up, holding on to the stone wall. Then he wiped his mouth and spat to the ground again.

"That was close…" He muttered.

Because of the blood that was staining his lips and chest, it was hard to see but Bakurah left leg was bleeding as well, enough to form a puddle on the ground. It was burned and covered in open wounds, still the thief did not allow the Priest a closer look.

The reason for this was right before Seth as Diabound slowly crawled out of the wall again, inside which it had been hiding. The creature himself seemed unharmed at first sight but as it moved out further, the missing tail became obvious. The dragons attack had ripped Diabounds tail clean off - leaving Bakurah with an injured leg.

Set thought he had vanquished the beast once it disappeared, but Bakurah wouldn’t still be standing if that were the case. He must have given another command in the midst of that attack. The thief looked even more injured than before and all he could do was smirk. “Give it up, thief. You’re far too weak to continue.”

He wasn’t aware of Diabound hiding in the wall until Blue-Eyes made a shrieking sound to it’s master, warning him that Diabound wasn’t gone yet. “Tch!” The high priest clicked his tongue in distaste upon seeing his beast still there. But something was off, his lower half was missing part of his tail—that much the priest could tell.

"How are you still standing!" He grit his teeth in annoyance.

Despite his injured self, the thief still managed to give the priest a mocking smirk, a hand grasping the stone tightly so he would not fall. “I already told you didn’t I? My hatred keeps Diabound strong and with every second it grows.” He licked his lips, tasting his own blood. “And my Diabound has a lot hatred to share..” Throwing his head back, Bakurah shouted another command, this time before the Dragon could attack.

"Attack now!" The sacrificed tail and the burned leg, were a small price to pay for now Bakurah had the advantage again to attack. Blue Eyes needed a little to prepare a new attack like that but Diabound had already prepared his and made sure to burn the enemy in the flames of Bakurahs hatred.

But this attack had to hit directly. If he would miss Blue Eyes now, he wasn’t sure if he’d manage to avoid another attack like this, so Bakura put his entire energy into this one attack by using his very last bit of energy. All he wanted was to see that Dragon burn and Seth with him so all the other Priests would find were ashes. Then the rod would belong to him as well…

The soldiers scrambled and agreed to go get the high priest to spare their superior.

Set was busy going over papyrus scrolls, working on plans to repair tombs and temples when his soldiers came in almost in a panic. They told him that Master Akhenaden needed to see him immediately, choosing not to say that he held their superior hostage if he didn’t come soon.

The high priest only heaved a sigh and stood. “Very well…I’ll entertain what Lord Akhenaden has to say.” With that, he gave them orders to stay behind while he went into the dungeons to face the demon that held his mentor captive. Alone.

The cowards resembled whimpering dogs, hurrying to find their much smarter, more capable master. Cockhenaden chuckled darkly and then looked to his barely conscious victim. The soldiers… so many alike, so few who were truly discerning, truly moral! And their captains were the worst. Oh, he knew what it was like to be on the receiving end of police brutality. The cries of ordinary citizens were not by any means unfounded. Well, this little man, this brute would not keep his life, even if Set came.

Nudging his head with his foot, Cockhenaden said, “You pups had better not delay. Their precious leader is in the hands of a furrier, and I’m quite eager to bash your canine head in.”

Bakurah gave a laugh as this match went exactly as he had planned. Like their first fight, Seth was overhelmed by Diabounds growing strength - it would end the same way their last encounter did only that this time, Bakurah wouldn’t let Seth escape.

Watching the creatures tail wrap around Diabound, made Bakurah scoff. “You’re already becoming desperate, after throwing big words of punishing me.” A certain hatred was dripping from Bakurahs words, which did not stop him from smirking smugly during his fight.

Reaching a hand out, Bakurah made a crushing movement with his fist. Diabounds snake - tail already began to try and get rid of the dragons tail by biting down on it , while Diabounds attack become stronger with each passing second. It surely would have been enough to hit Blue Eyes if it weren’t for Bakurahs weakened body.

He suddenly coughed up some blood, holding onto his chest with an angry growl. The punishing was over but he could still feel the aftermath of his recent suffering. The lack of food and the wounds couldn’t be denied any longer.

"Hgn..!" He growled, trying to pull himself together but it was too late. Diabound suffered from the same pain and stopped its attack in a howl of agony.

Set was focused on Diabound intently, almost accepting that Blue-Eyes was about to make an attack to cause significant damage to his Ba. That was when he saw that the snake-like Ka had stopped. Bakurah was still weak, that much was obvious. His Ka might have been a lot stronger, but the thief was in no state to keep this up.

The high priest allowed himself a chuckle. “And what of you? You’ve gone too long without proper food, water, and sleep. What makes you think that you possess the strength to take down one of the pharaoh’s most trusted priests?” He scoffed and allowed Blue-Eyes a chance to attack while he was suffering. “Attack him now!” He made a quick waving motion with his hand.
