When asked about recent events and how she will proceed.
“I may have lost an eye and several close friends along the way, but things have never been clearer. If I had the choice, I would still have chosen my friends over this perspective, but it is not worth it to dwell on what could have been but rather what could still be. I’ve been hurt in more ways than you could imagine, and most of them aren’t physical; but what matters is that I’m still here and you can bet your ass I’m not going to stop fighting anytime soon. You’re fighting too, whether you know it or not, there’s always a battle within you. I had friends I could lean on when my fight became too much, and I offered my own arm in return.
I have been cut, bruised, burned, and knocked down more than I’d care to admit.
But at the same time I always got back up, not only because I was determined to keep going, but also because I had an ass to kick.
A phoenix may fall and the sun may set, but is it not also true that such a bird of flame rises from its ashes again; and is it not also true that the sun yet rises no matter how dark the night?
I can be felled, but never have I allowed myself to be beaten; defeat is only just that when you accept it as such, never accept defeat.
Within every defeat lies the seeds of victory, you must only seek them out. But like any seed you must sow them, care for them, especially when the turbulent winds of life seek to damage them.
There will come a time, of course, when even the best of things must end. Even when you’re being dragged by the tail, clawing and scratching into whatever infernal abyss awaits us all, at least you went down fighting, that’s how I feel we all should go.
I can’t say what will come next or how I will handle it, but I will do the only thing anyone can--move forward.“ - Eira Siltfoot, 1329 AE
