"Not even close but-"
"Wait, do you not have one in here?"
There is. Well, there was. It expired, I think, and I forgot to put in a new order and I always meant to, but y'know it was just one of those things, and...
Just don't call Raleigh! Or Miss Mako!
"What?" Vanessa said, following the man, "Oh mon dieu!"
Unless that's French for "I have a fire extinguisher in my bag," we're, uh...
...oh shit, is that something burning?
"Please tell me you don’t see them."
"Dani...? What's - what's happening?"
[Herc eyes his head cook, frowning slightly.]
Neither do I Mr. Tennison.
At least he still seems happy for Valentine's Day. Unlike some of the people around here.
"Alright, next person who attaches anything red or heart shaped to Max, regardless of who it’s for, is getting dish washing duties. And I don’t care what your rank is."
[He quickly hides a red paper heart behind his back, shrugging.]
That poor dog; I don't see why anyone would try such a thing...
"God, it’s good to leave my room again."
Is that a smile I see?
Hong Kong Shatterdome, show me what you've got.
That would be me! I haven’t eaten since I left, way too early this morning. You know where I could get some?
I'll trade you food for a name - I'm Roger, head chef here at the Hong Kong Shatterdome.
Hong Kong Shatterdome, show me what you've got.
And someone please point me to the direction of the nearest source of food. I’m starving!
Food? Did I hear someone needing food?
Time to get orders ready for next month...
Oh, you know my name but I don’t know yours.
You’re totally right! The more junk food the better, I’ve always been a firm believer in that.
Sorry, I'm kind of a gossip. You do that when you're bored at the lunchroom. Mr. Roger Tennison at your service.
Sometimes I just wish we could have junk food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but I don't think Marshall Hansen or Miss Mori would approve.
"Neither would panicking," Veronica sighs, thinking back to Dani and her reaction to this whole predicament. "We don’t seem to be in any immediate danger…so I guess our best course of action would be to stay calm." With flush cheeks and a clearing of the throat, she adds, "And, um, yeah, boxers would be nice. I have clothes if you need to borrow any."
"Well, for the record, I think this is much more preferable than having our insides turn into liquid or what have you."
"No, no panicking. Panicking is bad. And you're right - as inconvenient as this is, it's not like we're helpless. And I mean, I don't know about you guys, but I'm heading back to the kitchen as soon as I find pants that fit. Speaking of, yeah! Just, uh...Here, I'll send them over to you before tonight."
"That would also be bad, yes. It's not that bad, though. I mean, I have to get used to uh, new padding, but hey, I mean, haven't you ever wondered what it's like?"
"I didn’t- have that hard of a time telling who you were. Besides the obvious changes, you still talk like you own the kitchen."
"Jasper. I’m- well. Sort of Jasper. We’ve met once."
"You can bet I still own that kitchen. I just hope the sous chefs don't use this as an excuse not to come in, though! Oh! Jasper. Of course. Should've known that you'd be just as good looking even like this."
"Yeah, I’m Rodgers. God, this is so bizarre - I’m saying all of this, and this totally new voice is coming out saying them, and…" Veronica pauses to glance down. "…That’s a whole new ballpark of its own."
"This can’t be just some science experiment. We have to be dreaming, or…something. Dr. Gottlieb thinks it might be some sort of chemical leak in the pipes, or something along those lines. So I guess being drugged or poisoned isn’t out of the question, either."
"Eh, you'll get used to it sooner or later. I mean, not that we should. Getting used to it would not be great progress." Roger shrugged and smiled. He was a little uncomfortable in his new body, but he managed to be surprisingly calm, startling even himself. He wasn't quite sure why. "I have some, uh, boxers if you need them."
"Dreaming? Drugged? Poisoned? I mean, I guess it's not too far a stretch, but if it was anything like that, couldn't they come up with something better than this?"
"I think so too."
"Thanks Rog-..er. Sorry."
"Er, it's fine. Don't worry about it."
"I hope this doesn't sound completely stupid, but I'm having a hard time placing you..."
"It’s gross! It just hangs there and- god just, how do you deal with it?" She asked, making a disgusted face, “I mean, honestly how do you even pee?”
"So it is you. And yes, it is me, thank you." she said, shaking her head, "Am I at least somewhat recognizable?"
"If you're still having trouble tomorrow, I'm sure we can fish out a box of cheerios for you to practice with."
"Er, well, it wasn't so much your face as it was your tone of voice? I mean, not that you don't make a handsome guy, though."
"Better than nothing."
"Might I have permission to eat some milk and cookies?"
"Permission granted to raid the cabinets as much as your heart desires. Dinner and lunch are still on schedule, but breakfast might be taking a backseat. I think everyone'll understand."
