Dico: "Ma se la guerra partigiana mi tira fuori di qui avrò un nome di battaglia: Heathcliff"
"Come hai detto?"
"Un nome inglese. Insegnerò a tutti a pronunciarlo, allora."
"Non glielo dire, Beppe, che il tuo amore, una sera del dicembre '43, t'ha detto che per lei tu somigliavi all'Heathcliff del famoso romanzo."
Beppe Fenoglio, Appunti partigiani 1944-1945
Star-pale, celestial, neither flesh nor blood,
Lemme just
I have breakfast at twelve, a plum and croissant. I open my window to let life enter me, I stay awake watching the leaves rustle.
I sit and I wait for something greater to find me.
I feel everything, I push much of it away. I dream of sunshine and sea foam. I fantasize of being hollow, just laying weightless on top of water.
I play the piano, I never cry.
I think about love. I yearn and I loathe. I exist in everything, and yet I am lost.
I write often, not well. I try to find myself in the syllables, in the crunching of the words, in the typing of the keys, in the scraping of the pen.
I fail.
