I've been looking for a way to combine my love of DJing, writing, music discovery and future bass into one cohesive project. Now obviously nothing was going to do that entirely but my new conception of the RokkPaperScissors blog comes awfully close. First, we will establish a theme and find some music that YOU should KNOW. Next, we will mix it altogether and then post the tracklisting here in the forms of links to the tunes and make commentary on the tunes and the artists making them. We hope one day to have custom art, interviews, guest mixes and more but for now...today's format is the format. Check it out!
The very first ever RokkPaperScissors mix focuses on mostly brand spanking new festival trap and dubstep from the biggest producers on Earth. These are tunes that you've heard and will be hearing on huge systems all summer long so get familiar.
TOKiMONSTA - Go With It (CRNKN REMIX)
"An absolutely huge remix from CRNKN that is about as good away as I could ever think of to get hands swaying high in the air and since this was a sampling of festival tunes, it fit the bill as the opening track to the mix. I see a difference in CRNKN as he is really finding new sounds to explore which differs say, from UZ, who seems stuck in a rut"
"I'm familiar with Chooky due to his moombahton output but it never had to be that way and it clearly does not now. Huge dubstep original from the man who also has a huge electro tune slated for a forthcoming RPS blog post/DJ mix."
"Big free tune from Des McMahon. This is real, goosebump raising dubstep, perfect for slaying a willing crowd"
Riot Ten - Party Hard (VIP Trap Edit)
"There is a lot of trap that pairs with dubstep like cheese pairs with wine. Have you met my homey Riot Ten?"
AC Slater - Party Animals (Flinch remix)
"This TRAPMUSIC.NET exclusive is probably the biggest tune I can drop right now. The vocals from longtime favorites, Nina Sky, make this a MUST HAVE."
Gent and Jawns - Vibrate (LeDoom remix)
"Once upon a time when "future trap" was just hitting the blogosphere (like what, last year? lol), I felt deep and soulful would be the main thrust with tracks like "Trapped in Sydney" and "Harlem Shake" being the abberations but by the time LeDoom flipped "Vibrate", I realized that this trap sound was destined for the big stages"
Ace Hood - Bugatti (TAGRM remix)
"Easily the fastest rising act in Wisconsin and near the top of that category nationwide as well, the high output of originals and remixes by The Al Gore Rhythm Method will continue to sure a fast climb to the top"
"All dance everything. If you like it hard, you like Bare. Period"
Must Die! and Getter - Amy's Bakery
"What the hell is this song about? Play it nearly everyday, have no idea where the samples are from or what they mean. The bassline is from Hell and says report to the dancefloor."
