Roku is a streaming device that allows anyone to watch Movies and TV programs. As long as, they have a stable internet connection and HDMI port connected to their television. Roku is a very small in size and considering its price (it’s quite cheap) and, it is a very worthy device to try out. If you are planning to cut the cable, I would likely to recommend you a Roku device. Using Roku, you will have access to various channels. User can subscribe to paid apps such as Spotify, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and much more. What I like about Roku is that you can watch free channels for absolutely free and you can play games on it. Of course I can play games on my tablet and my laptop, but playing games on TV is different. Roku Store have a robust channel and the only thing you can’t find is iTunes app.

If you have an external hard drive or flash drive, just plug-in through USB connection into your Roku to play your own music playlists or your own movie collection. Roku Streaming Stick is a small HDMI stick (new version) that can connect to any television that has an HDMI port. The old version of streaming stick is using the MHL ports which is still uncommon for most television. Roku still sells MHL version where it’s likely packaged with Roku Ready TV. The Roku streaming stick is very cheap and a worthy competitor of Chromecast Stick.

Roku 2 is much better and faster in performance when compared with Roku 1. It’s remote with a headphone jack, and have a Micro SD card lot for storage. Both Roku 1 and Roku 2 can be used with HDMI and RCA cables for connection to a television. Roku 3 is a different whole level as it has a faster processor than the previous Roku devices. Roku 3 has an HDMI port connection, ethernet port (for stable internet connection), a USB port, a Micro SD card slot (you can add storage there) and a fancy remote-motion gaming (basic controller) with a headphone jack. Roku 3 is featured with a killer specs. Roku 3 can play video format like MKV and MP4.

Roku 3 has been in the market for over a year now. There is no news of new product development from Roku Team. However, Roku 3 are still, among the best product in the market alongside Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and others streaming device. Competitive factors on Roku itself make it still popular within TV-internet streaming community. New product release from Roku Team will be anticipated by TV streaming community as to look for what kind of killer features that is being added to the new product in-line.
