I think Shadowheart chose that name for herself because it kinda looks like Hallowleaf.

Can you please tell me you thoughts on good path! Astarion/Shadowheart? 🙏🏻Not many ppl ship it it seems!😢

okay real talk i understand why when you say the words "i think astarion and shadowheart could be a cool ship" people default to their bad ending states, because vampire lord/sharran priestess does make, like, sense in terms of "evil" pairings, but i SO think their good paths are interesting and compatible, too. i mean, there is the base, tropey stuff they have going on (undead & cleric, werewolf & vampire, um. bitchy4bitchy, if that's a trope to you), but on a deeper level, what they've both lived through also has a lot of parallels. they were both taken and used and abused, taught how to manipulate others using their words and their bodies in the service of a greater being. they were both special and tormented for it were pushed into destinies they didn't choose or want (grooming shadowheart for leadership in the sharran church; astarion's role as a sacrifice in cazador's ritual).

and i actually think these two could make a good pairing almost exclusively in a post-canon context where they both got their "good" endings. unless you got the ending where shadowheart's parents live (i never have), they're some of the only two companions who are still actively adventuring--and enjoy it!--and after they've worked through the worst of their personal issues, i think they're a pairing that could enjoy sniping at each other and still have a deeper vulnerability with each other because of the similarities in what happened to them. i'd love to write something about them adventuring together after everything and getting closer to each other over time while they both figure out what it means to be individuals who are allowed to go where they want and do what they want. their good endings are where they both get their freedom and get to choose their destinies for the first time ever. i think that makes really fertile ground for an interesting relationship to develop

I feel the same way. They're definitely post-game relationship exploration. And yeah the adventuring pair is a great tabula rasa for the both of them.
