And I love him for it. He's activity aware that his trauma makes him a bit illogical, unreasonable and treat people unfairly. And he tries to be open about his issues and do better. He apologizes the most out of the party and has no problem admitting he's wrong.

One of the really fundamental things about Fenris as a character is how hard he tries to make his trauma not Hawke's problem. He wants Hawke's help, but he never wants to burden them. Which is part of what makes his romance so frustrating and heart-rending, but also means he always apologizes when he realizes his trauma-influenced internal narrative is affecting Hawke.

Do I wish Fenris would be more willing to burden Hawke a little bit? Yes, and I've got a million bookmarked fics to prove it. But it's kind of fundamental to his character that he doesn't ever do that.
