Without a steady job, and all the money he carried around in his pockets going towards school and making sure he fed those that couldn’t fend for themselves, Teddy found living on the edge of the forest in a tent to be comforting and practical, not only did it keep him in close proximity of his companions, but also assured he wouldn’t waste endless amounts of money on a place. So, after purchasing a few things in town, he made himself at home just against the log near his fire pit, using a protective charm to assure the flames wouldn’t spread and scare the animals. In wait for his dinner to be ready, he started preparing a small meal for Rover as he hummed Blackbird to himself.

Still in confusion about things with Ivanna and having to readjust to having Hugo back, he had been spending a lot of time in the forests clearing his mind. Now with his new puppy, he was running the trails when Meyer took off. Running after his dog, he only stopped when he saw Teddy. Trying to get a hold of Meyer he shook his head. “Man, I’m sorry about him.”

Iris stood in line to the coffee shop, watching the guy who seemed to only be looking at her. “I think that’s the guy I refused to do a tattoo on the other day,” she said, leaning towards the person next to her. “Do you think I need to make sure I’ve got all the doors locked when I get back to my place? Or is he just being creepy for creepy’s sake?”

Roman looked at the guy giving him a pointed look. “Could be either. If you’re feeling unsafe, I can always walk you back to your place.” He offered stepping in front of her to block her from the guy’s view.

Her breath hitched as his hands wrapped around her, everything about this was so new, yet so familiar and warm. She smiled against his lips at the way he was treating her, as though she was something fragile. She pulled back just a little, her eyes looking into his mesmerising ones and her fingers brushing his cheek. “I am not going to break, you know.” she said, a smile playing on her lips. 

He didn’t mean to treat her like glass. He knew the things she had been through and how strong she had come out at the end. It wasn’t so much that he wanted to protect Ivanna as it was that he wanted to protect the moment. He was afraid to break the perfect world they had just created in their living room, so afraid he’d mess it up. “I could never break you but I’d break for you.” He smiled speaking softly.

“Your resolution should be to stay the hell away from my girlfriend. Except that you won’t follow resolutions. She’s not my girlfriend. And we’re all on good terms. Hell, I don’t know man.”

“So, this dog kind of followed me home from work today. I really want to keep it but my apartment complex doesn’t allow pets. Look at this face.”

“Wait, you’re not thinking about giving him away, right? Let him stay at my place, you can come too.”

Ivanna was startled as he pulled back,suddenly doubting if he was going to push her away, and tell her that this wasall a horrible mistake. She was beyond relieved by his words and she sounded asbreathless as he seemed when she replied to him. “You needn’t have waited solong.” she mumbled before her lips found his once more. Now that what she hadalways believed to be an impossible scenario had finally happened, every secondwithout the feeling of his lips against hers felt like an eternal waste.

His heart fluttered at her words. This was a moment only his widest dreams had created. Never did he think that he would actually living it without having to be pinched to wake up. In the midst of all the horrid events in his life, he had finally gotten the one treasure he had longed for. He wrapped his arms around her small frame holding her as if she was the most precious thing the world had to offer. Roman’s lips moved softly against hers with all the sensitivity in the world.

“That’s a good point. I don’t want coal in my stocking because I gave Santa stale cookies.” He nodded taking her point seriously. “Right again. The decorations are in the living room. You have free reign of the house.”
