“i’m not being vague! i’m just –i can’t tell you aaaall my secrets.” asher kept tugging at his sleeves, something he remembered his mother scolding him for (”you’re going to stretch and ruin them!”) but he had nothing else to distract him from the fact that there were butterflies going mad in his tummy every time he managed to make romeo smile a little. “you are a good person,” asher insisted, brow furrowed in confusion. even romeo’s obvious distaste for the topic wasn’t enough to dissuade him. “you’re… you’re the best person.” at the mention of the state of the school he grinned, shrugging. “yeah, but sometimes it’s fun just because it’s a mess.” asher felt his heart pounding so fast he was certain it would break his ribcage any second. he was aware that romeo was teasing him, but it didn’t matter. all his mind could comprehend was romeo claiming him – flirting with him? – and the possibility that asher might have a really bad, hopeless crush on him. that asher might have a crush on a boy. “not all people,” he murmured, stepping inside the dorm with a little smile; not quite meeting romeo’s gaze. “but i don’t – like, i don’t mind if it’s you.”
“yes you are, love, and i think you can,” romeo replied, his voice having a rather playful undertone as he felt fondness swelling up inside his chest as soon as ash tugged on his own sleeves. he wasn’t entirely sure why or how, but it just made ash look so small and cute, which unavoidably gave romeo the urge to just wrap his arms around him. however, as soon as he realised what he had been thinking, something nagged inside his head. he was romeo de luca --- he didn’t think people were cute, let alone boys. yet there he was; unable to keep his walls up when he was looking at him like that. “shit, ash, i pretty much left you all high and dry after our night out and left the following day. that’s not something a good person would do,” he replied, suddenly feeling awkward about bringing up their last night together. “probably. i reckon people thrive off of the drama and the mess --- that’s probably why your sister’s still relevant.”
romeo stood motionless in front of his door as asher told him he wouldn’t mind him claiming him. honestly, if he hadn’t been so shocked he’d probably smile ---- feeling proud there was at least one person who thought that way. he wasn’t even fully aware he had moved when he heard himself close the door before stepping into ash’s direction. romeo was towering over him, staring at the younger boy’s features as he tried to remain calm. “of course you don’t,” he stated matter-of-factly, despite his voice not being louder than a whisper. already knowing he’d regret this, romeo lowered his head and let his lips graze over ash’s jawline before placing a soft kiss on his neck. “d’you want me to mark up your skin, then? ‘letting everyone know you’re mine?” before actually connecting his lips with his necks once again, romeo searched ash’s eyes and placed a hand against his cheek. “are you okay with this, though? i can stop if you want to,” he explained, sounding rather serious as he didn’t want him to regret it. “i promise we can forget about it.”
