Not sure why it's a new trend among fic readers to assume if the fic has not been posted within the week it's inappropriate to comment on it, like the fic has to be hot out of the oven to give feedback for.

I got a comment on a fic that is less than a year old and it was mostly an apology for being a comment on an "old fic" and how late they were in commenting.

Just comment on the fic. Doesn't matter how old it is.

imagine if we treated art or any other piece of media the same way. sorry guys, you cant appreciate the mona lisa anymore. that piece is too old. art can only be appreciated within the 1 week deadline and then after that it can be trashed and forgotten. youre just now seeing a movie that came out a few years ago? too bad, bet the directors dont want anyone talking about it anymore so dont comment on it.

art is timeless and people discover art in their own time. never be ashamed to show appreciation to the artist/writer/etc no matter how long its been. they will always be happy to see people are STILL enjoying it despite the fact it might have been a long time.

Adblock DNS is easy to install! Works for all phones! It works on most ads, but not video or tumblr.

Settings → Network → Private DNS, paste in dns.adguard.com

the above will decrease the amount of ads you see system-wide. however: hands down the BEST ANDROID ADBLOCKING feature is the ability to install Firefox with uBlock Origin enabled.

Install Firefox -> Settings -> Extensions -> uBlock Origin

this only blocks browser ads, but HOLY SHIT does that matter if you try browsing websites over apps when possible. which you should bc it's awesome and gives you SO much more control. E.g. blocks youtube.com ads and you can play videos in the background. works with spotify.com too

Pro tip: toggle on 'Desktop site' to avoid mobile sites that are purposely designed to bully you into using the app. Desktop mode fixes a surprising number of problems

Note: for iOS users this isn't available bc Apple hates your guts, but there are other browser options with built-in adblocking, e.g. Firefox Focus, Brave

TADC FANS WHO DON'T HAVE EPISODE 9 THEATER SHOWINGS NEAR THEM:

Reminder that earlier this year Iron Lung was the number 1 movie in America and ended up being screened in multiple countries ENTIRELY through fans calling up their local theaters and asking for it to be shown there.

If enough people start calling theaters and asking (NICELY) if they can show it and (POLITELY) get a way for them to contact Goose/Glitch for it, you can get it showing in your area. Let them know there's interest! Theaters want to show things people will go see!

(Seriously though, be respectful to the employees when you call/go to the theaters/etc or i will pop you like a bubble)

Fun Story to Share.

I got my (now 18-year-old) daughter into Ao3 back in 2021. I taught her she should always comment - even if the fic looks old or abandoned or whatever. She did.

Well - she got this email this morning:

The fic was written in 2014 and essentially abandoned.

Bethy read and reviewed in 2021 (and was actually the only person who had commented at all).

Today in 2025 - the final chapter was posted by the author and this was her reply to Bethy’s comment.
