What Happens In Vegas, Stays In Vegas! The Vegas Shoot
For those of you wondering what the Vegas Shoot is, its is the worlds largest indoor Archery tournament held annually in Las Vegas. Organized by the NFAA this years shoot was the 51st edition and the second time I have attended. This years edition featured over 3400 archers from over 60 countries. As you can imagine thats a lot of archers and…

Well That Didn't Go As Planned
Well That Didn’t Go As Planned
Well, the 2017 Lancaster Classic has come and gone. The tournament was held in a new venue this year, Spooky Nook Sports. Wow, what a facility, I wish we had that up here in Toronto. Again, the Rob Kaufhold and the entire staff did an outstanding job all around, without their hard work, this shoot couldn’t happen.
A bit of background… Last October I made a wholesale change in preparation for the…

S0 It's Settled
S0 It’s Settled
First off, I hope everyone had a great holiday.
My last post I talked about either using a dot or a ring. I have settled on using a ring only.
Why?
What occurred to me as I tried it was that I was able to solely focus on the x-ring of the target without worrying about keeping the dot floating in the middle. Now, mind you it wasn’t perfect each and every time. There is still some work in training…

A Dot or a Ring?
A Dot or a Ring?
A bit of background, I was warming up last Wednesday for practice at Easthill, I shot a few arrows at the butt, no target face up, just aimed at a dark area on the butt. Much to my surprise I was smacking carbon with each shot, everything touching at 20 yards.
So I put up a target face and all of a sudden, it looks like I have patterned a shot gun. I didn’t think about it much at the time, I put…

Is There a Secret or...
Is There a Secret or…
Am I forever resigned to a future of experimenting and tinkering?
You’re probably wondering what I’m talking about, Stabilizers. I am sure that from the very first time that archers started to put stabilizers on their bows that trying to figure out the ideal set up has eluded most of us.
I’ve read a lot on this subject, elicited opinions and tried to figure it out myself. I have come to one…

An Update on the New Bow
An Update on the New Bow
The New Bow
I am very happy with the new Mathews. I’ve shot 3 scoring rounds with it now and come away with a couple of podiums.
I can definitely see and feel the difference. The biggest thing for me is the grip. The profile of the Mathews fits my shooting style better. I have made a couple adjustments to my form, to the better I believe.
The first shoot out was a WA 18M up at Saugeens Shafts…

A New Chapter
A New Chapter
Yesterday I resigned my staff position with APA Archery. It was a difficult decision to make as I had been shooting APA bows since my introduction to archery. But after my last Ont3D tournament I promised myself that I would really consider going forward what I wanted to accomplish in archery and how I was going to do it.
You may ask, what will I be shooting then (I know you…

Bow Grumpies
Coming home last year from the WinterCam Classic, Bryan Caballero made a comment to one of my Facebook posts about Doug and I in the truck travelling home along the line of the travelling Bow Drunkies. Well, not being a big drinker the name didn’t stick but the idea did.
Doug and I talked about it on…

I realized as I was looking through the blog and the old posts that I hadn’t updated any of the information on the dogs. The last posts about them were about us losing Amy and our new addition at the time Teddy.
Well so much has changed since then. About a year after getting Teddy we added another dog to the family, Candi!
Candi is a beautiful Long Haired Chihuahua I affectionately refer to as the worlds largest Chihuahua.
She was rescued fro a breeder situation where her only job was to have puppies. When we got her she was very shy and reserved. In the last few years she has come out of her shell. She is a wonderfully silly and adventurous girl, who loves nothing more than exploring the garden and hiding out under a bush. She loves to torment our son Brett and has turned it into a game, but I’m pretty sure Brett isn’t amused.
Her favourite though is Ebony, our newest addition. Ebony came to us through Loyal Rescue. We adopted Ebony as a puppy and what a great addition she has been.
Ebony possesses boundless energy and fun all wrapped up in what is probably the sweetest and most good natured dog you will ever meet. Ebony and Candi have become the best of friends who enjoy cuddles and kisses and then in the next breath she will be on the floor rough housing with Teddy.
A great little pack if I do say so myself!
One last thing, another plus for rescue. Ebony, Candi and Teddy are all rescues and a testament to all of the caring volunteers who give of their time to ensure that these dogs find a furever home. Please consider a rescue for your next pet!
The Doggies!! I realized as I was looking through the blog and the old posts that I hadn't updated any of the information on the dogs.
