“We’re going to make a bad show (that’s derivative of other, worse shows) on purpose, so we can subvert the audience’s expectations in episode 8” <- sentence uttered by smug idiots who have vastly underestimated how hard it is to write an adult animated comedy, let alone one operating on 2 or 3 layers of detached meta-commentary.

Really just one of those ideas that works better on paper or in an outline, but fails as a real story you have to sit through. You can feel the show (that will eventually be very good and funny!) fighting against all the weird constraints it’s put on itself.
