I'm beginning to prep for Art Fight 2026. Here are all of the attacks I did last year! I'm excited to draw more character this year. Here is my profile, and I also have a hitlist this year 💖 I honestly wish I had done hitlists the previous years because it makes finding bookmarks so much easier, and I love hearing people talk about their characters.

It's been a while since I've drawn Ophelia. I wanted a couple references for her along with updating her design slightly. She is a grand strategist. She also has a combined origin, so she's a crime lord and a bastard noble. I'll only put an excerpt of her description here because it's looong. I need to learn to shorten things, but that day won't be today.

Ophelia believes the God-Emperor tested her. Not the abstract trials the Ecclesiarchy drones on about; those priests have never missed a meal in their lives. She believes He cast her from the Spire into the Underhive to see if she would break. He took her arm first to see if she would stop climbing. He took her voice next to see if she would go quiet. Then He took her lungs and still she crawled forward with nothing but the refusal to be one more thing the Underhive snuffed out. She emerged from the dark and spent decades proving she belonged in the light. Only then did He give her a Warrant of Trade as proof that it had all meant something.

Been working to redo the writing and code on Magnolia's Toyhouse profile because it hasn't been updated in a long time. It's taking forever, but, in good news, she has a new character portrait written (and literally a new portrait lol):

Magnolia has never understood the appeal of modesty. It is, she suspects, a coping mechanism invented by people who do not own enough mirrors. She owns several. They all agree she is delightful. For her, the world is equal parts puzzle and playground. Dead languages are translated for pleasure. Fallen empires are critiqued for sport. Political scandal reads like serialized fiction, only with better twists. Salacious romance novels are annotated with the same academic rigor other scholars reserve for sacred texts. (She has strong opinions about the proper use of dramatic irony in romantic subplots. She will share them whether asked or not. It is a public service.) Her curiosity is bottomless. Her boredom is merciless. Her wild magic is pure theater: curtains catch fire, chandeliers tremble, and reality briefly stumbles. She calls it flourish. Other mages call it reckless; she calls them dull. She dismantles insecurities over tea and calls it conversation, yet she is, against all odds, inconveniently delightful company. Every gesture is deliberate, every word chosen, and every smile meticulously timed to land exactly so. She orchestrates every moment so no one ever glimpses the girl behind the curtain. And if she performs long enough, flawlessly enough, perhaps she won't either.

New Magical Girl buttons and stickers on my Etsy!

Been having a lot of fun with the new Guild Wars 2 expansion, Visions of Eternity! A bit of background: I quit The Elder Scrolls Online a couple years back for various reasons (and those reasons seem to have gotten worse lol 😭). I was pretty sad about it because I'd been playing since launch, and TES is my favorite fictional universe. But I'm glad I ended up on GW2 because, man, I can't articulate how much I love this game. Playing and interacting with the community brings me so much joy. Anyway, I drew my main Angelique. Her spec is firebrand, and she's also a magical girl because I said so. She is magical girlfriends with the first character I made, a fairy sylvari, Floraline. Maybe I will draw them together?

i came to @roorenart with a silly idea for a commission then and she absolutely knocked it out of the park like always. she gave it perspective! she gave them a sense of real physical interaction in the space! she gave tristan's pose and expression his forthright humor and nova's her indignant infatuation!! it's so good and i love it so much

Another year, another art vs artist. I feel like I didn't draw many finished pieces this year? I looked at my old art vs artist and I said the same thing last year lmao. Art Fight kinda took a lot out of me... even though I didn't draw nearly as much for it as last year. If I participate again next year, I'll probably do less than I did this year because every year I get burned out! Anyway, I was actually looking through some of my old art vs artists as I was looking for this template. I'm going to leave them under cut because it tickled me to look at old art.
